Understanding Genesis #7: ”Good for attaining wisdom”: Solomon?

Listen Later

In this episode, Rob leads a study of the book of Genesis. This week we look at Adam and Eve eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Bad. The problem was that they did so of their own accord and not by listening to the Lord. That is, they did not "fear the Lord" which is the beginning of wisdom (Prov 1:7). Instead, Eve, "saw" she "took" and she "gave" it to Adam who "listened to the voice of His wife."

Then we look at Abraham and Sarah in Gen 16. They too decide to make their own rules and Sarah "took" and "gave" to Abraham her slave Hagar. And Abraham "listened to the voice of His wife."

Finally, we look at the Solomon story in 1 Kings 3-4. Finally, so it appears, someone chooses to receive God's wisdom!
