  • Ep. 25: Sometimes You Need to Slow Down to Speed Up

You know those days when you feel like you’re working and working and working, but you don’t feel like you’re getting any traction? Like you’re just spinning your wheels, but you’re not actually getting anywhere? Sometimes we get so caught up in the daily grind of just working and never slowing down, the quality of what we’re working on actually starts to go downhill. Despite the constant hard work, we lose momentum. We lose focus. The ideas we come up with don’t feel as clear or as purposeful. And as we attempt to execute on ideas that are unclear, we lose steam.

Or what about those times you encounter a slight inconvenience, but rather than addressing the issue as soon as it shows up, you find yourself working harder than you need to to try and keep working around it. Because you don’t think you have the time to address it. Unfortunately, however, when you don’t address the little inconveniences or challenges that come up, you end up creating even bigger problems that become even more difficult to work around.

The simple act of slowing down, getting reconnected with yourself – that's what allows you to have more intentionality in what you do. It allows you to be more productive and get more done in less time. And it allows you to create things from a more aligned place and to create things that feel like they have so much more value than the things you try to create when you feel like you’re spinning your wheels or running in place.

Most of the time, if we allow ourselves to slow down and either re-focus or deal with the little inconveniences that are tripping us up, the slow-down doesn’t take us as long as we think it’s going to. And by allowing ourselves to momentarily slow down, we ultimately allow ourselves to have a more intentional focus, and we equip ourselves with the tools to be able to push forward with a lot more momentum and purpose.

  • Ep. 24: Reframing Work Life Balance & Creating Intentional Boundaries

Many people are in pursuit of a work-life balance. Then there are many other people who are adamantly against the idea of work-life balance, and believe it’s not possible or even realistic.

    Both are right.

    And.

    Both are wrong.

Because most of the time, neither perspective is looking at the bigger picture.

Having balance in your life isn’t about spending equal amounts of time on every aspect your life. It’s not about making a list of everything and then dividing your hours equally between all of it.

Having balance is about the overall value of the things you spend your time on.

The actual time you invest in the various areas of your life is going to change. The important thing in order to maintain balance is going to be recognizing the value of each area of your life in any given season.

Investing more time and attention in a particular area of your life during a particular season does NOT mean you don’t have balance.

When your life gets out of balance is when you don’t allow yourself to transition from one season to the next.

Because balance is obtained over the long-term.

When you’re able to look back and say – I invested the time and energy that I needed to invest in the places I needed to invest it during the seasons when it was most important – that's when you know you’re living a life of balance.

  • Ep. 23: Confidence, Consistency, & Imposter Syndrome

Have you ever struggled to do something you really wanted to do because you just didn’t feel confident doing it?

Or maybe there’s something you really want to do, but you stop yourself from starting because you look around and see countless other people doing that same thing, and you tell yourself that you’ll never be able to do it as well as they are. Or that there isn’t room for you in that space.

So many times we hold ourselves back from doing the very thing we were made to do because we don’t feel confident.

But – what if you looked at confidence through a different lens.

Mel Robbins defines confidence as “a willingness to try”.

Ed Mylett defines confidence as “keeping the promises you make to yourself”.

Confidence comes when you take action. It doesn’t start with a feeling. The first time you do something, you’re not going to feel confident doing it. The second time you do something, you’re not going to feel confident doing it.

In fact, you’re probably going to feel a little bit of imposter syndrome. You’re probably going to feel like you have no business doing what you’re doing, and you’re going to wonder if the people watching you have figured out yet that you’re terrible and you have no business doing what you’re doing.

But feeling a little bit of imposter syndrome isn’t actually a bad thing. It means you’re stretching yourself – it means you’re doing something outside your comfort zone. It means you’re growing and challenging yourself to do something that’s just a little outside of your reach – just a little beyond what you’ve ever done before. And that’s a good thing.

And when you keep showing up, over and over, week after week – as you consistently follow through on keeping the promise you made to yourself – that's when you’re going to build the confidence.

  • Ep. 22: When Things Don't Go According to Plan

Things don't always go according to plan. And when that happens, it's important to know the difference between what you have control over and what you don't.

Maybe you've heard the serenity prayer...

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

When things don't go according to plan, one of the most important things you need to recognize is what you can control versus what you can't control. And in this episode I share a few tips on being able to recognize the difference.

And just a reminder - there's only a few weeks left to get the free printable version of my brand new 30-Day Purpose Journal. Are you a morning person? Or are you a night owl? Or... are you so effing tired all the time you don't even know what you are because you've never caught up on sleep long enough to ever feel focused?

In this episode, I talk about why I'm not a member of the "5 a.m. Club" - I tried, I really did! It just wasn't for me! I talk about my morning routines. Yep, routines. I have different routines for different days of the week... because that's the season I'm in right now. And if that's the season you're in right now, I want you to know that that's ok for you too!

  • Ep. 20: The Things We Say TO Ourselves ABOUT Ourselves Matter

If you really want to change your life - if you really want to change your reality - it isn't enough to just change your conscious awareness and the conscious choices you make in response to the world around you. Because research has shown that up to 95% of what our brain does is completely at the subconscious level. Which means that 95% of our emotions, our behaviors, our thoughts and feelings, the actions we take, the choices we make is not even within our conscious awareness. We do it subconsciously. 95% of our life is basically just running on a program. And that program is run by our subconscious mind.

So if you want to change your life, your reality, or the trajectory of the path you're headed toward in your future, you need to change your subconscious mind. You need to change your subconscious beliefs, values, and the lens or the filter that you see everything through.

And a big part of what shapes our subconscious mind is how we talk to ourselves. The beliefs we form about ourselves, which is shaped by the words we say to ourselves. And that is why it is so important to be intentional about the things we say to ourselves and the things we choose to believe about ourselves.

And the morning journaling practice in my 30-Day Purpose Journal is one way to be intentional about the words you choose to say to yourself at the start of every day, and the things you choose to believe about yourself.

By the time my next episode comes out, it will be available for purchase on Amazon! But you can get a free copy of the printable version of the journal right now through the end of this month! • Ep. 19: Not All Relationships Are Meant to Last Forever

Every relationship - every friendship - serves a specific purpose in our lives. Even if the relationship doesn't turn out to be a lifetime relationship. Even when a relationship comes to an end – the end may hurt and you may be quick to believe that the relationship was a waste of your time because it ultimately came to end – but during the course of the relationship, that person served a purpose in your life. They met some need that you had. And during the time that they were in your life, their presence provided you with something of value. Something you needed.

And that’s what the relationship was meant to do. You don’t have to regret the experiences because the relationship comes to an end. You can be grateful for what you provided for each other and for who you became as you grew through it.

And speaking of gratitude, I want to tell you how important it is to have a daily gratitude practice and to recognize the things we are grateful for every single day. And it’s one of the intentional practices that’s included in my 30 Day Purpose Journal – which provides you with the tools to reconnect with yourself, realign with your purpose, and reignite your dreams.

In less than a week, it will be available for purchase through Amazon, OR if you’d like a FREE printable version of the journal, all you have to do is leave a written podcast review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify, screenshot the review, and send it to my DMs with your email address, and I will send you a free copy of the printable version of the journal.

This free printable journal will only be available through the end of this month, so definitely don't wait to get your copy!

  • Ep. 18: It's Not Selfish to Want More

Today's episode is in response to a question that seems to keep coming up. But it's one of those questions that's asked from a place of judgment rather than of actually wanting an honest answer. And the problem with this question is that it leads people to second guess their dreams. It leads people to second guess their goals. It leads people to question their purpose and even judge themselves.

The question is: Why do you think you need more? Why can't you just be happy with what you have?

This question perpetuates the idea that someone who wants more is selfish or unappreciative of the life they currently have.

But it's completely ok to be grateful and appreciative for what you have while also wanting more. Wanting more does not invalidate the gratitude or appreciation that you can simultaneously have for the life you are currently living.

This question is rooted in the mindset that money is evil. But money provides so much good and so much value to the world. And in this episode I talk about how money can provide freedom - time freedom, location freedom, job/career freedom; how money can allow you to create a legacy and provide generational wealth for your family; how money can provide you with peace and can actually have an effect on your health; and how money can allow you to bless and be of service to others in ways you wouldn't be able to do otherwise.

And if you'd like a little bit of guidance in how to stop playing small, and how to start setting and actually reaching your goals so you can live the dream live you've envisioned, don't miss out on the opportunity to get a FREE copy of the printable version of my new journal - The 30-Day Purpose Journal, all you have to do is leave a written review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify, screenshot your review, send it to my DMs (linked below!) with your email address, and I'll email you copy FOR FREE! • Ep. 17: Why Following All the Success Strategies Doesn't Always Work

If you love learning about personal development, you've probably heard some of the advice around all the different success strategies - wake up at 5 a.m., take cold showers, create the vision boards, have a purposeful morning routine, structure your to-do list to get the most done in the least amount of time, use these time management hacks....

And I talk about these things too! All the time! Because they're powerful and valuable and they can work! If they're in alignment with your goals, your purpose, and the season you're in...

But before you jump on any "strategy bandwagon", you need to be very conscious of the seaon you're in, your specific goals, what you're trying to accomplish, and what it actually looks like to be your highest, most aligned self.

And beyond that - even deeper than that - who you are as your truest, most authentic self. Everyone likes to talk about being their true authentic self, but how many of us actually know who our true authentic self is?? If you strip away your job, your relationships, your roles, the things you do and the way you interact with the world because of something you were taught, modeled, or believed you were supposed to do - who are you beneath all of that? Because that's where you really need to start.

And if you'd like a FREE copy of my new printable journal to help you reconnect with your true authentic self, all you have to do is leave a written review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify, screenshot your review, send it to my DMs (linked below!) with your email address, and I'll email you a printable copy of my new 30 day journal FOR FREE!
