In this episode, Erson goes over a recent Lumbar Lateral Shift Case, who has been doing well for 2 years since he was last seen. He was ipsilaterally shifted the first time, and got back to working out and being pain free for over 2 years. Previously he had recurrent pain several episodes a year even though he was in his late 20s. This time he presented with severe acute, constant pain with a contralateral lumbar lateral shift. After getting him to 0/10 pain, he then complained of a minor scapular tender point and the assessment flared him right back up.

Erson goes old school with knee and neurodynamic testing for a patient with chronic knee pain and complaints of tightness. This includes a prone knee bend/femoral nerve testing and some lumbar mobilizations. Old school and something he used to do on many patients but literally had not done in years.

At a recent live Modern Manual Therapy Seminar there was an interesting Cervical case and even more interesting Lumbar Case. Both were easily reset after meeting the Clinical Practice Patterns but also had habitual WB postures that potentially sensitized their systems.

On social media, a listener/follower asked, "How do you motivate a non-motivated non-responder with chronic issues?" This episode, Erson gives his answer which is realistic, but not easy to hear. These types of patients are difficult for the best clinicians. Maybe feeling better, but being stronger and more functional if you change every aspect and bad habit, and maladaptive beliefs is not an easy selling point.
