Use Your Words

Join hosts Paul and Aaron as they take a dive into chapters 9 and 10 of Knowing God. We go over the themes presented in the book including how Packer claims that wisdom is inherently moral in nature. The rest of the book continues to chat about how Wisdom is something that we should all pursue, and strive to know. Join us this week as we look at and study Packer's Knowing God.

Welcome to episode 2 of music analysis where we talk about the fact that Linkin Park has some good music. But beyond that we look at this song from a few points of view - how is it musically, lyrically, how is the music video and how it ties in with the song, and how does the song fit in with the Bible. You may think come on there is nothing to discuss here - its a quick five minute song. But you would be wrong - we spend almost an hour and a half breaking down this song and what it means when they sing the words "I'm breaking the Habit tonight"

Welcome back to Paul and Aaron talking about J.I. Packer's Knowing God. This week we go over chapters seven and eight of the book and discuss a few things including: God's immutability, difference between immutability and mutability, the Holiness of God, and reverence that should characterize our relationship with Him.

Join us as we continue to go over this book.

We continue talking about the Nashville School shooting. We talk about what is next - also known as what can we do, what should we do, and at what point does a Christian have the authority to rebel against the government over them including but not limited to gun laws.

On March 27th, 2023 another shooting occured at a school in Nashville, TN. We decided to talk about the shooting. What our response should be, why the gun free signs don't work, and what should we as Christians do to respond to this as well as how should we respond if the government decides to ban all guns (that will be in part 2 - so make sure to come back then).

Welcome to Season 3 of Use Your Words. This week we start out things by looking at our Chris Rock's Netflix special "Selective Outrage" (This is rated MA for sure - it is not recommended for anyone - let alone under 18). Why are we talking and analyzing it? Because it is something that is in the current culture - it is something that people are talking about around the water cooler as well as the fact that it continues on the social media blaze about the slap heard round the world (aka Will Smith slapping Chris Rock). Things covered in this special include Chris's thoughts on dating younger women, words that white men can't say, and the slap. The slap. Join us as we talk about this and take our first venture into video.

It's the last episode of Season 2 of Use Your Words and we have one final thing to talk about. Social Media. Social Media is harming people left and right, and yet we let children use it without a second thought. Multiple studies have shown the detrimental impact it has had on teens and young adults - so is it maybe time we put social media behind an age restricted wall on the internet - and regulate it just as much as we do other things that are considered adult such as pornography, alcohol, cigarettes, and voting?

In this week's episode we discuss chapters 5 and 6 of the classic book Knowing God by J.I. Packer. The two chapters covered address the concept of the incarnation in chapter 5 and why it is important that the idea of the incarnation is important. Packer brings up the fact that Jesus is The Only Son of God - not a son of God - and Packer discusses what the difference between those two phrases are.

Chapter 6 discusses the importance of the Holy Spirit and what he does in the lives of the Chrstian and in the church.

Well this is another experiment that we will see how it goes. This week we are talking about the song Unholy by Sam Smith. We will be looking at this from multiple angles - the musicality, the lyrics, how it aligns with the bible, and how the music video aligns with the song itself. Will this song make it on either of our playlists? Will we attempt to play it for either of our parents? Does Aaron really like this song?
