When we want to move on from childhood hurt and trauma, it can be the part of our mind that we call the ‘inner child’ that keeps us stuck in the past.

Our inner child often does not understand and will not accept what happened to us when we were young, and it may desperately want to hold onto its story of unfairness and injustice.

As mature adults, we may also agree with our inner child’s narrative, and so we don’t have the authentic answers to give our inner child to help it heal.

So why does the inner child get so stuck? And how can we reparent our inner child so it can finally let go of the past?
