Wisconsin Maritime Museum Submarine Curator Karen Duvalle talks about how the Wisconsin Maritime Museum is excited to announce that USS Cobia will depart for dry dock on September 4th. She is scheduled to leave port by 8 am., weather permitting. The World War II submarine is currently docked outside the WMM in Manitowoc, WI. It will be towed 55 nautical miles to Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay, WI. It has been nearly 30 years since Cobia was last dry-docked. When will it be available for people to visit and stay there again? What is the history behind the ship?
