  • Vikings Happy Hour🍻 - Playoffs?!? …Another Round Bartender!
The Minnesota Vikings suffer another one-score loss to a team that they could have beat. The San Francisco 49ers proved to be too much controlling the ball and time on the clock, especially after a Kirk Cousins quasi-meltdown in the second half. Can the Detroit Lions replicate the same results? Jared Goff is playing a little better, but he has some no-names to throw to. The Kitties do have a decent run game though, and that could target a Vikes’ weakness. With a depleted D-line, the part of the game that has suffered the most is defending the run game. The Vikings have some players that are in a questionable status as to whether they would play, like Patrick Peterson, Michael Pierce, and Dalvin Tomlinson. That doesn’t include those we know are out like Danielle Hunter and Everson Griffen. On the offensive side, Dalvin Cook will be out so most of the load will go to Alexander Mattison. He will be sharing time with Kene Nwangwu. That will be exciting to see.
The unspoken concern comes down to Kirk Cousins. He turtled in the second half of last week’s game and reverted back to Captain Checkdown. Will he continue poor play or become aggressive again? On the good side of things, Cousins is from Michigan and tends to destroy the Lions when he plays there. Will he Sunday? …And you wonder why we enjoy our beverages so much? Another round bartender! LOL.

  • CTP Mondays 🏈 - Hard Losses
It’s Monday and fans of the Minnesota Vikings are getting so tired of the hard losses. The Vikings went to the left coast to play the San Francisco. At the end of the the day, one marked by bipolar play calls, injuries to Anthony Barr, Christian Darrisaw, and Dalvin Cook, the already depleted defensive line couldn’t stop the run, their quarterback, Kirk Cousins had a temper tantrum throwing, bad throwing, neglecting his weapons in the second half day. He wasn’t the only with bad decisions either. Mike Zimmer hoarded timeouts in the first half instead of using them to help the offense score. Even with all of the that, the Vikings went out to their 11th 7 point lead or better in this season. Of course, the defense gave up a score within the final 2 minutes of the first half too. All of these wrong doings and conflicting play calls, and the Vikings were still in the game. That was until Kirk, with the game on the line, tries moving Justin Jefferson and KJ Osborn for lining up wrong, and then lines up behind his right guard, Old Udoh. What could possibly be next?
Deshawn, and Dave will be here with you to talk about just that, and to turn your Monday Purple!
Other talking points for tonight’s show:
    Offensive adjustments without Dalvin?
    Udoh needs to be benched?
Inability to win with Cousins having a bad performances.
Are the injuries too much to overcome?
Inconstancies prove need for reset regardless of the seasons results.

  • Vikings vs 49ers - CTP’s: The Final Score
Agonize with us! The Minnesota Vikings are on the road again. Two 5-5 teams battling to improve their playoff chances in Santa Clara. Your Minnesota Vikings take on the San Francisco 49ers to see with team will go above .500 and win their 6th game. Things don’t look well on the defensive side with D-Line anchors Everson Griffen and Dalvin Tomlinson out. The patched together replacements will face one of the heaviest running teams in the league. Will they hold up? Absolutely not. The 49ers had the biggest rush total of their season. Will Andre Patterson and Mike Zimmer scheme their butts off and figure out a way to shut down the run and force Jimmy Garoppolo to go to the air? Again no. Why would you do that when the running game was so effective? Can the Vikings’ offense stay aggressive and just plan on outscoring the good defense that the 49ers possess? Not when Kirk has one of his bad days with McNabb-like worm-burners, missing seeing open receivers, and skying the ball above receivers hands. Can the Vikes be the team that snatches that 6th win this week? Nope. Maybe next week to get back to .500 against the always plays us tough Detroit Lions. Join the crew right after the final 2:00 minute warning and react and vent together!

  • Two Old Bloggers - Vikings vs 49ers
Two 5-5 teams meet and the winner will improve their likelihood of making the playoffs. Can the Vikings be that team? Your Minnesota Vikings traveled to to play the San Francisco 49ers. Both teams are coming off of 2 straight wins and see hope. Kyle Shanahan with Jimmy Garoppolo as his game manager will take their run heavy game against Mike Zimmer’s defense that has a depleted defensive line. Then there is WR Deebo Samuel that can burn you from just about any alignment. The corners will have their hands full for sure. Can the Vikings grab the victory? They have the talent, so let’s hope so.
Dave and Darren who both started blogging on the Purple decades ago will go over a way to possibly see how this game will go and if the Vikings can win, so get ready for the Climbing The Pocket and Daily Norseman pregame show!
Here are the themes for the show:
We'll go over the usual stats to start - strengths and weaknesses of each team.
    Loss of Dalvin Tomlinson
    Tomlinson on COVID IR.
He's been a key part of the defensive line - playing about 58% of the defensive snaps - third-most on the D-line.
More of a run stopper than pass rusher.
Kyle Shanahan knows how to run an offense and his running game is always good - no matter who gets the ball.
Could be a big loss for the run defense, and we'll see Sheldon Richardson and James Lynch playing a lot inside. they will have to play well.
    Deebo Samuel effect
Forget George Kittle, Deebo Samuel has to be the focus of the Vikings defensive gameplan.
    He makes this offense go.
Dual threat - they use him as a running back and a WR and he's been damn good at both this season.
A YAC machine with string hands and very tough to tackle.
Vikings don't have an obvious answer for him on defense - too fast for the LBs and safeties and none of the Vikings corners are known for their tackling.
Packers had success on Sunday targeting Xavier Woods and forcing him to cover WRs. It didn't go well. I'm sure Samuel and Shanahan noticed.
Vikings Deep passing game - a new philosophy or mirage
Vikings offense continued to be aggressive against GB.
Kirk Cousins made 14 deep throws - four more than any other QB last week.
It's been successful, and feeding Justin Jefferson (with help from Adam Thielen) has paid dividends.
Vikings offense looks as sharp as it has all season.
    Will they keep it up?
Could down to how the O-line handles the 49ers d-line.
And how Christian Darrisaw handles Nick Bosa - who has 10 sacks and is a phenomenal player - great get-off, strong, an array of pass rushing moves and never gives up.
In 2019 the Vikings offensive line got manhandled by the 49ers d-line.
Both units have some different personnel now. But the Vikings Oline has to win or at least battle the 49ers front to a stalemate for the Vikings to win this one.

  • Vikings Happy Hour🍻 - Two Teams Competing with Niner Beto
The Minnesota Vikings are back to 5-5 after the win against the Green Bay Packers, but there is no time to let the effort wane. The team will fly to the west coast to match up against the San Francisco 49ers. We have gust Nine Beto of the Nine Sickness Podcast going the crew to enjoy some beverages and talk some football. The 49ers started out slower than they wanted and we can empathize with that. Like with the Vikings, they are riding a 2 game winning streak to bring them back up to .500. This game will have had all sorts of playoff implications, from getting there to head-to-head tiebreakers.
Kyle Shanahan along with Jimmy Garoppolo looks to improve on that record against the Vikes. The problem is that Mike Zimmer and Kirk Cousins want to do the same thing vs the 49ers. Will they? Both teams have their share of injuries and for the Viking, Dalvin Tomlinson was ruled out today and has been put on the Covid IR list. The game looks to be a shootout type with each offense being able to score lots of points deciding on who will win. Yay!… And you wonder why we enjoy our beverages so much? LOL.

  • CTP Mondays 🏈 - The Aggressiveness Happy Place
It’s Monday and we are celebrating a Minnesota Vikings victory over the Green Bay Packers. Doesn’t it feel good? We saw a second game of aggressive play from the offense, That has not been seen the victory over the Seahawks. After very few targets to the wide receiver weapons Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen just two games ago, the team seemed to go all-in on getting them the ball, and even in two high situations. Shocking, isn’t it? Let’s look at this and some of the other notable play from Vikings players, and maybe some that weren’t. Either way, it resulted in a victory Monday.
We’ll relish in the win, look at it closer, and discuss it as Tyler, Deshawn, and Dave will be here to turn your Monday Purple!
