VO Pro: The Business of Voice Over and Voice Acting

Welcome to the channel. This is a new voice over marketing and business channel specifically for voice actors. If you’re a voice actor in the first few years of your pro career you’ll learn strategies for how to market voice over, how to grow your voice acting business, how to free yourself from voiceover pay-to -plays, how to find voice acting jobs and gigs, how to get new voiceover clients, how to generate leads for voiceover work online, and more.

This channel is for you if you’re a working pro voice actor in the first few years of your career. If you’re well-trained. If you’re part of the 75% of voice actors making less than $40,000 a year. If you’re making part-time income, if you’re relying on pay-to-plays, if you don’t know how to market yourself and your business, or you don’t have a plan and a process to do that. You’re in the right place. I publish new videos every Thursday. Subscribe now and hit that notification button if you haven’t already to be the first to know when new videos are live.

If you’re a hobbyist or amateur and just do voice over for fun and maybe a few extra bucks here and there, I support you, so if you’re curious about how working pros conduct the business and marketing side of voiceover, welcome.

This channel is not for you if you think success is sitting on Fiverr or Upwork and working for scraps. This channel is not for you if you’re untrained and don’t plan on getting trained. This channel is not for you if you have no intention of going pro or treating voice over like a business.

I’m your host, Paul Schmidt, a voice actor and the creator of the VO Freedom Master Plan, the voice over industry’s premier voice over marketing and business training course which focuses exclusively on growing your voice acting business, revenue, and profit.

I’ve been a voice actor since 1998, I’ve been full-time for the last several years, and for just as long I’ve had this suspicion that we’re losing good people in this business. Not because they’re not trained, not because they’re not talented, and not because they’re not passionate about voiceover, but because it’s just too damn hard to find the work.

I believe that voiceover should be a meritocracy. That if you’ve trained well, are talented, and are driven to do the work, then you should be able to find work in voiceover and support yourself and your family comfortably.
