Holy Week is the most sacred period in the Christian year. This week, we remember the days that mark Jesus's passion and death leading to his glorious Resurrection.
No matter our circumstances or challenges, we can be confident in the Good News of Easter. We know with certainty that Jesus overcame the power of sin and death and turned darkness into light.
The Good News of Easter is that Jesus is alive and with us! By God's grace, we can find strength to carry our daily crosses. We do not despair but find our hope in the newness of life that Jesus promises to all who trust in him.
May we joyfully let others see our love for God. And may our Lord bless you and your loved ones with his peace at Easter, and always.
On Palm Sunday we reflect on the passion of our Lord, from Jesus's entry into Jerusalem to his suffering and death as we approach Holy Week and the hope of our Lord's resurrection at Easter.
Jesus's Passion reveals his great love for us, a love that does not count the cost; a love that knows no end.
The Passion reminds us that there is nothing we experience in this world—false judgment, harsh treatment, betrayal, rejection, humiliation, or emotional or physical suffering—that the Lord has not already endured for our sake.
Jesus identifies closely with our burdens and is never distant from us. He invites us to walk the path to Jerusalem with him and to unite our sufferings to his, with the assurance this is the path that leads to glory.
On this episode of Walk Humbly, Bishop Burbidge renews his call to pray for peace, uniting with the Holy Father who has called for ceasefire in the war with Iran. He also welcomes and congratulates Archbishop Caccia as successor to Cardinal Christophe Pierre as the new Apostolic Nuncio to the United States.
Bishop Burbidge also recaps his experience at the annual Men's and Women's Conferences, Peace & Justice Conference, along with his participation of the Diocesan Days of Unplugging.

Each of us has been entrusted with unique gifts, talents, and abilities. Our gifts are blessings from God, given with and for a purpose.
In the Gospels, Jesus reminds us not to "bury" the gifts we receive. We will not be measured by what we accumulate, but by what we give away—reflected in our generosity, and the service we offer to others.
During the sacred season of Lent, we are called to practice almsgiving—to generously give of ourselves and share our resources to help the poor and suffering.
Today, find at least one way to be generous. There is someone who needs you and your attention and timely assistance. Sacrificially, share your God-given gifts. Don't bury them!
In today's world, our lives are constantly interrupted by notifications, social media, and the endless pull of our screens. While technology is a gift, it can easily distract us from what matters most.
During this sacred season of Lent, consider a "digital fast"—a fast from non-essential screen time. When we intentionally step away, we create space—space for quiet reflection, deeper prayer, meaningful conversation with the Lord, and true presence with those we love.
A "digital fast" can free our hearts to listen more attentively to the Lord and to one another—to truly see the world anew.
Consider making a pledge to unplug, perhaps for an hour, a day, or even a weekend this Lent. You may discover renewed peace and a deeper awareness of God's active and loving presence.
Throughout the Bible, we see Our Lord expelling demons and unclean spirits to set people free. Do not despair if there is a "demon" in your life that seems to have a grip on you or an unclean spirit that is preventing you from growth in holiness. They are part of our frail human condition.
Yet, remember and be convinced that no demon or an unclean spirit is stronger than the Lord's amazing grace, healing love, and saving power. With faith and trust in these gifts, speak to the Lord.
Tell him specifically the demon and/or unclean spirit you need him to expel. Ask him to set you free so you may spend this day not in the grip of the Evil One but in the merciful and loving embrace of the Lord Our God.
On this episode of Walk Humbly, Bishop Burbidge offers advice for fruitful living during the Lenten season. He highlights The Light is On campaign as one such invitation to return to the Sacrament of Confession. Be sure to check out his Reflections for Lent and Easter booklet offering daily spiritual meditations throughout the season ahead.
Bishop also thanks everyone for their support of the 44th Catholic Charities Ball—where more than $1.8 million was raised to support its many ministries throughout the diocese—and of this year's Bishop's Lenten Appeal.
Lent is a sacred season of repentance, prayer, fasting, and almsgiving—an invitation to conversion and transformation in every part of our lives. Each year we hear Jesus call us anew: "Repent, and believe in the Gospel."
We can only keep our Lenten promises with the help of God. If you stumble along the way, do not be discouraged. Persevere. The Lord says, "I will pick you up."
This Lent, God may be asking you for more time each day in prayer and silence. Consider fasting from complaining and instead giving others what they truly need: undivided attention, respect, and quality time. Share your gifts with those in need.
Ask for the grace this Lenten season to be made a new creation in Christ Jesus our Lord.
As Valentine's Day approaches, we call to mind the true gift of marriage. Marriage is not simply a contract or a feeling that comes and goes. It is a sacred covenant—an enduring promise of faithful love, rooted in God's plan and sustained by His grace.
In marriage, a husband and wife learn to love as Christ loves: with patience, sacrifice, forgiveness, and joy. Through kindness, honest conversation, and prayer, spouses become a witness of God's love to their children, their community, and our world.
If you are married, renew your vows to the Lord and one another. If you are dating or preparing for marriage, seek a strong foundation in the Lord. To all who live their marriage covenant, thank you for your faithful witness!
If you are feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or stretched too thin, you're not alone. Many of us carry heavy responsibilities—at work, at home, and in our communities—and it can feel like there's no place to set them down. In moments like these, it's important to pause and remember that proper rest is not a luxury; it's essential.
Jesus offers a simple invitation: come to me, and you will find rest. The message still resonates—when we stop trying to carry everything on our own, our burdens can feel lighter. Entrust them your cares to him, the one who cares for you.
Each day, Our Lord desires to lead us from restless activity to a restful breath. Rest in Him.
