As an RN diagnosed with severe ulcerative colitis shortly after giving birth in 1987, Coleen was faced with ileostomy surgery. Shortly after, she underwent J-pouch surgery to remove her stoma and learned to self-catheterize. Ultimately, Coleen chose to invite a new stoma back into her life.
