This week I’m joined by April Reign who is currently Senior Director of Marketing Fractured Atlas an organisation that empowers artists eliminating practical barriers to artistic expression to foster a more agile and resilient cultural ecosystem. April is the creator of many viral hashtags the most notable being #OscarsSoWhite which challenges the lack of representation of marginalised communities in Hollywood.
In today’s episode, April and I cover what it means to go viral and some of the challenges that come with it, especially when you’re talking about race and equality. We help you figure out how to use your platform for change and ways you can have the conversations you want without risking your jobs or friendships. Tiffany Ford is a Storyboard artist at the Cartoon Network and has worked on Clarence, Craig of the Creek, The Powerpuff Girl Dance Pantsed special, and she’s the former colour stylist on Steven Universe. She has also been a director at Disney TV. Tiffany also worked with Steven Universe Creator Rebecca Sugar on the children’s book called ‘The Answer.


Today Tiffany and i discuss what it means to be a Storyboard Artist at the Cartoon Network, we talk about some of the demands that are placed on you. She has won 8 awards including the Critics Choice Award for Bojack Horseman twice.


Fair warning we cover some more mature themes in today’s episode. Lisa and I discuss how she comes up with the idea’s for her art her use of wordplay. We explore how she developed her acute attention to detail and the questions she asks herself before creating the work. We talk about some of her quirks and how they influence the work she produces.
