Washed Up Walkons

David joins us once again to discuss the press conference post game from Wisconsin as well as Tuesday's presser. One that David said saw 'the most relaxed and confident Kirk of the season'. We discuss Kaleb Johnson's continued success and if he is getting the national attention that he deserves, and one of the biggest factors to his success, the Offensive Line. Does Barnett need more credit for where this Line has gotten to, with a dominating performance against the badgers and great run game all year long. We take a deeper look at the O-line situation over the past 3 years. We discuss Ladell Betts and his time as RB coach in Iowa City, we talk TE depth and production, and of course we discuss QB and how Brendan Sullivan will perform moving forward with Cade as the clear? backup at this point.

Iowa v Wisco talk starts 31 mins into the show

Before that we talk games and teams around the B1G and try to decipher how which coaches are going to find their seat hot, and we answer how long a coach deserves before a University cuts them loose. We recap our bets of the weekend as all 3 hosts scored a positive win rate once again, and then we talk Hawks. Why you should never come to Kinnick as an opposing team at night, why Iowa was able to dominate the line of scrimmage and gain over 300 yards of rushing attack, why Brendan Sullivan HAS to be the guy for the remainder of this year, and why KJ is probably better than Jeanty and just doesn't get the same love. All of this and more.

On todays episode we talked about the weight room, velocity based training, forging one's ability to respond when faced with obstacles, how we approached facing Wisconsin a decade ago, how the New Wisconsin is viewed now. The identity that NW/Iowa/Wisconsin have tried to bring to the football field over the last 20 years, meeting with players 1 on 1 before their first season, the 4.15 40 by the track kid at half time, how the discipline and routine of a strength program makes parenting easier, and whole lot more.

We discuss some of Wisconsins national rankings and outputs relative to Iowa, and what Wisconsin has been able to do as of late, we talk about where Iowa can take over this game, and the potential for it go down as an instant classic under the night sky of Kinnick Stadium. On today's show we have an in depth conversation based mostly in the IAFB press time on Tuesday. We start the episode with some basketball season talk as the season kicks off tonight with an exhibition. That turns into a conversation about how mid majors are similar to the MAC in football, and the state of the transfer portal and NIL. That filters into a conversation about coming after players because they are paid now, and we finally wrap around to the main topics of the press conference. Of biggest note, Cade is not available at all this weekend, along with a few other injury bits. James Resar has great potential, just not at Quarterback, Sullivan continues to impress coaches and teammates, and KJ could be lined up for another big day against the Badgers.

The Hawks chalk another in the Win column this past weekend with a successful Homecoming game against Northwestern. A slow start saw Brendan Sullivan, the hot topic of the past few weeks, come into the game to replace Cade after a hard hit, and bad interception. Sullivan would finish out a quiet 1st half and return as the starter for the 2nd where Iowa exploded for 4 total TDs in quarter 3 and a runaway victory. Sullivan was effective statistically, but maybe more importantly provided juice for the team. We discuss all of this and why Brendan needs to be the guy permanently this season, as well as the Defense getting back to their standard against the Wildcats, and the special teams coming up with some massive plays as well.

Deep conversation on today's show that zero's in on the narrative that Doyle leaving Iowa's program was a direct hit to the Offensive Line performance of the last few years. We get into an entire conversation about Coach Doyle, his recent interview, how he affected the program at Iowa, the blowback to assistants when everything went down, the reality of the situation 4 years later, our thoughts on if he sounds different when answering questions, and we bring it back around to the Hawks finding themselves out of a hole they have dug.

Long episode tonight where we dive into multiple CFB topics from around the country. We examine a call to action from Pat Angerer for the fans in Kinnick this weekend and take a deeper look at the Psychology of a fan. We talk about the inherent natures of a 'conference' and why the super conference is pushing us back to the necessitation of divisions. We discuss why there is still a ton to play for this year for the Hawks, including steadying the future of the program. We discuss the Northwestern matchup briefly and why this should bode well for Iowa on Saturday, and we finish with the world famous Ward's Winners

Another press conference breakdown on tap today, we discuss the focal points of Coach's time at the podium which included questions about the poor defensive play, the tackling in particular, as well as the liability at the CB2 position and the cast of characters at that role trying to fill the void. We obviously talk about QB and more reasons why Cade isn't what we all hoped he might be, and the reason to use Brendan Sullivan more, including some verbiage from coach that may be forecasting an uptick in playing time for Sullivan. We also sprinkle in some Coach Doyle talk as well as a few solid minutes on Caitlin Clark to open the show.

The Hawks suffered an ego altering loss this weekend in East Lansing, we take a quick, concise look at what happened, and try to decipher where this team goes from here. We examine the worst Defensive performance in recent memory, talk about the tackling issues, the physicality issues, and most notably the liability we have at our CB2 spot. We try to highlight a few of the positives from this weekend in some special teams, KJ, and 3rd quarter Offensive response. And then we close with talk about Cade at QB and why we think it would be a good time to let Brendan Sullivan take control for a game. We also recap the betting weekend.
