For todays show Gbone and Kluv start the discussion with the reasons why this season is NOT dead yet. We talk about the 12 team playoff and why Iowa still has a shot with lots of college football still to play out across the country. We discuss the emotional disappointment of an early season loss and how to keep your head in the game as a fan, and more. Kevin jumps in to discuss his interpretation of losses as a former player the further we get from our playing days, at what point it would make sense to see what we have in Brendan Sullivan at QB, and if Xavier Nwankpa is underperforming compared to his expectations coming into the program. We finish with the world famous segment Ward's Winners.

In the Tuesday presser KF answered questions from the media about the loss from the weekend, he talked about dealing with setbacks and how to move forward from those, and the danger of dwelling on the past. The theme of the press conference was likening this past weekend to 2002 so we discuss how time, decades, provides a pretty good perspective on how great that season was and how much potential this season still has. We discuss how the RB room may only be a 3 man stable right now with JP outside looking in, and of course how scoring in the redzone was such a vital issue in week 1 and will be a focus moving forward. We also talk best timing to try out Brendan Sullivan and why KF may be more open to a QB switch right now than people think.. all of this and more!

Not the recap we wanted to do, but the recap that may be necessary- We break down the entirety of the Iowa loss to Iowa State over the weekend. What was it like to see the Hawks jump out to an early lead with promising play calling and scoring, and how did it flip in the 2nd half eventually to see the lead evaporate with seconds left on the clock. What sparked the big plays for both teams? Should Iowa be concerned with their punt game? How do we get 6 points from being 1st and goal at the 3 twice? And what is the implication on the season moving forward.. all of that and more.

On todays episode we discuss the transition to the in season schedule and what considerations have to be made when an academic calendar is added onto an athletes plate. We talk FCS injury rate and why is can get dicey when a program like Illinois St comes to play a big boy like the Hawks, we talk in-season lifting groups and how to separate the team based on their training age and weekly physical volume, and how many days a week each group lifts. We finish with a discussion on how to treat a freshman like RVZ who is suddenly getting a lot of playing time but still needs to get great work in in the weight room.

On Todays episode KF was back at the microphone after a Saturday at home, and he had plenty to say about watching the game on TV instead of inside Kinnick Stadium. He seemed happy to be back and ready to take on Rivalry week. We discuss the RB situation and where each guy stands after week 1, and who may be best suited for the ISU matchup. We talk injuries and why Iowa sits much prettier heading into this game than Iowa State does, and how that could affect the game plan for the Hawkeyes. Seth Anderson will still be out but, does this receiving core look to have more promise than we originally thought? And finally what does KF being back on the sidelines do for the juice on Game Day..

FOOTBALL is finally in full swing, we are so back! The Hawks took care of business on Saturday vs the Redbirds but that is not the story line, its HOW they won, primarily what they did in the 2nd half that has Hawkeye fans buzzing. We are going to breakdown how Iowa amassed almost 500 yards of Offense and 3 WR touchdowns in its opening game of the year, both things that havent been done in YEARS for Iowa Football. We talk Tim Lester and his new playbook and what the balance was between scheme and execution in finding success Saturday. We talk individual performances like Cade, Vander Zee, and Kaleb Johnson, as well the uncharacteristic penalties from Saturday, and a whole lot more.
