Jake is from Springville, Iowa and joined the Hawkeyes in the class of 2013 alongside the Walkons. Coach Morgan found him at State Track his freshman year of high school, which led to conversations the next several years, physical development on the field, and eventually a chance to wear the black and gold. He talks about his first year in the program and catching up to the speed of the game, working his way up the depth chart amidst multiple injuries to his back and foot, and sticking it out for 5 years regardless of his playing time on the field. Jake explains why the experience and opportunity were worth the hard work and grind even when he didn't see the field as much as he would have liked, and how Iowa Football is serving him in his adult life today.

Coach Seth Wallace played football for Coe College from 1997 to 2000, and was immediately offered an opportunity to join the staff by his coach following his final collegiate game. He grew up in a football family and followed his dad around to all of his games as a child. Coach Ferentz hired Coach as a GA in 2006 for several years before he left to elevate his career at Valdosta St. He returned to Iowa in 2014 in a Recruiting coordinator and Asst Defensive line role and has been in Iowa City ever since. His current title is Assistant Head Football Coach, Assistant D Coordinator, and he serves as the leader of the Linebackers room. He is this podcast's favorite coach of our time playing, and was an incredible mentor and resource to us both as players and developing young adults. He joins for a 2 hour BANGER of a show to talk about all things Hawkeyes, his career, Coach Ferentz, this upcoming season, and a whole lot more.

Keith makes his 3rd appearance on the show. You most likely know him as the Groza finalist for the Hawks from 2016-2020, and the guy who shattered both Wolverine and Husker hearts across the land. He now works for Holmes Murphy in Waukee as well as running his own kicking business both of which we discuss at length. We also talk about the end of his football career and experience with the NFL, what its like being 4 years removed from the team, how Coach Wallace and Woods are still great mentors to this day and trying to keep them as Hawks, his involvement with Count The Kicks and how he's been able to raise hundreds of thousands for stillborn birth prevention, the impact of Tory Taylor being gone, and where in the 'New' Big Ten he would have liked to play.

In todays episode the boys are back after a run of Summer guests on the show. College Football is only 7 weeks away, which means the news cycle will start to pick up now, and we have several fun pieces of Hawkeye topics. The Hawks got a new locker room and we discuss the arms race of CFB in that everyone is fighting for new shiny facilities and things to sell on the recruiting trail, as well as how this compares to what we had 10 years ago. The NCAA 25 game that debuts this week also released their Top 100 rated players which features 4 Iowa Hawkeyes, and we talk about the actual relevance of this to real life in which Iowa's Defense will once again be elite. We discuss some Olympic trials talk, ponder why Subway is so damn expensive, and finish the episode with Marriage advice from the Walkon Army discord as Kevin gets hitched this weekend.

Pat joins the show for his 3rd appearance and with lots to talk about as he was just recently named the replacement for Ed Podolak in the radio booth. Pat played for the Hawks from 2005-2009 and then had a career in the NFL. He now returns to call Iowa games as the color commentator. We talk about what the process was like, interviewing and doing a simulated game call with Dolph. How it will work bringing his Pat Angerer flare to the job while still staying clean for the family friendly audience, and what this gig means to him personally getting to tie back in with Iowa Football after a decade plus away. We also discuss fatherhood, youth sports, his old job as a mortgage lender, how he approaches exercise now, and a whole lot more.
