We recap Iowa men’s basketball’s March Madness run, including the Sweet 16 win over Nebraska, the excitement of Iowa getting a national spotlight moment, and the eventual loss to Illinois, with discussion of how postseason success reshapes fan expectations and how Ben McCollum’s first-year Elite Eight run sets a high bar. The hosts also talk Nebraska spring football culture and attendance, Iowa spring ball clips, and react to a Nebraska defender claiming the Huskers could have the Big Ten’s best defense. They note Iowa’s 2027 commit Jake Thies, a three-star safety/running back from Missouri, and close with plans for a future McCollum year-one recap guest segment.

The hosts discuss Drake missing the show, Grant traveling to Houston, and the emotions and key moments of the Florida win, including late-game strategy and Florida’s decision to press. They note betting and March Madness viewing, highlight Ben McCollum’s coaching style, routines, and messaging about ignoring outside noise, and touch on Iowa women’s upset loss to Virginia and optimism for a young roster. The episode includes brief sponsor reads, a tangent on Houston travel and Texas barbecue, and closes with hopes for another Iowa tournament moment.

Tevaun joins the show for a second time. He's from Canada, but prepped in Connecticut to expand his recruiting hopes for College. We discuss Desmond King’s potential NFL return and what made King stand out, including his work ethic and habit of asking questions. Smith reflects on the importance of curiosity for young players, shares experiences with Iowa coaches and the program’s demanding culture, and details his recruiting journey from Toronto to a Connecticut prep school before choosing Iowa over UConn, Temple, and a Miami gray-shirt offer. He describes the uncertainty and short leash of being an undrafted NFL player, time with the Colts catching passes from Andrew Luck, injuries that shifted his path, and a successful CFL career amid constant coaching changes. Smith also covers current ventures in insurance and estate planning, real estate investing, a supplement brand in the NAD/NMN space, HYROX training with former teammates, and his Front Seat Pod.

The Friendship podcast returns! Iowa men’s and women’s basketball, including Iowa’s women suffering a 50-point loss to UCLA and how quickly fan sentiment swings toward blaming coaches. A look ahead to conference tournaments and March Madness, praise the Big East and Arch Madness, and then hear Drake recap a Cabo trip supporting Football for Change, which runs a free football camp and funds community projects like water cisterns, fountains, computers, Starlink internet, and a revamped community center. The group also reacts to Tyler Linderbaum potentially becoming the NFL’s highest-paid center, debates what day of the calendar year best captures the Iowa football player grind, old workout stories, and conversation on why sprinter Kalen Walker’s elite track speed wouldn’t automatically translate to playing wide receiver, while also spotlighting Eddyville, Iowa.

Hayden grew up in Michigan, and was a Wolverine fan, but ended up a Hawkeye. We discuss being a six-year college player after starting at small Christian college Dordt in Sioux Center, Iowa, his Dutch/Michigan connections, and a severe senior-year injury that tore a piece of his pelvis off, forcing surgery and sidelining him from football. He explains how COVID disrupted his senior year, why he chose Dordt, and how entering the portal led to LaVar Woods recruiting him to Iowa, where he became a contributor and embraced the program’s culture. Large reflects on the season’s “what if” close losses, praises leaders like Mark, describes Tight End U under coach Hodge, discusses teammates Reece, DJ, and quarterbacks Hank and Jeremy, and shares NFL Pro Day preparation in Knoxville with former NFL TE Lee Smith for March 23.
