Spielberg, aliens, and a CGI fox that should be tried for war crimes. Welcome to Disclosure Day.

Cupcake and Mike review Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day, starring Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, and Eve Hewson — a North by Northwest-meets-Close Encounters conspiracy thriller about what happens when the government finally admits aliens are real. Written by David Koepp, scored by John Williams, shot by Janusz Kaminski — this is about as classic-Spielberg a creative team as it gets. So why does this conversation get so heated? Is Spielberg "too old for this"? Why are Mike and Jose deeply split on Emily Blunt and Josh O'Connor performances? Is the third act really the humanity unifying resolution or did a legendary filmmaker shit the bed?

Masters of the Universe (2026) | Flash Gordon Meets The Office (We Mean That as a Compliment)

It's not a good movie. It is, however, a great time — and Cupcake and WillDaBeast are ready to make the case.

Travis Knight's Masters of the Universe has everything: a jacked Nicholas Galitzine, a scenery-devouring Jared Leto as Skeletor, Alison Brie going full Evil-Lyn, and a tone so chaotic it somehow circles back around to charming. Cupcake and WillDaBeast dig into what works (almost everything once they hit Eternia), what doesn't (that 30-minute prologue needs to go), and why this film is the Madame Web of the summer — in the best possible way.

A 20-year-old YouTube filmmaker. An A24 deal. A creepypasta that broke the internet. So why does Backrooms feel like baby’s first David Lynch?

Cupcake and Mike break down Kane Parsons’ feature debut — the kid who turned a 4chan liminal space into 3 million subscribers and a shot at the big screen. The visuals? Stunning. Renata Reinsve? Unreal. The script? That’s where things get complicated. Featuring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mark Duplas, and Finn Bennett. If you loved The Blair Witch Project, Severance, or A24’s recent run of prestige horror, this one’s worth your time — debate included.

Obsession (2025) | Does Curry Barker's Divisive Horror Live Up to the Hype? ft. Raiders of the Podcast & EF Contentment

Jose (Cupcake) and Mike (WillDaBeast) bring back two beloved pod guests — Kevin from Raiders of the Podcast and E.f. Contentment — for a spoiler-free review of Obsession (2025), the polarizing TIFF sensation from YouTube filmmaker Curry Barker, now distributed by Blumhouse.

Part Gen Z Fatal Attraction, part Ari Aster descent-into-dread, Obsession arrives loaded with hype, and the crew debates whether it earns every bit of it. Starring Michael Johnston and a star-making Indy Navarrete, this is a horror film with layers: a monkey's paw premise modernized into something raw, uncomfortable, and genuinely hard to shake. Imagine Hereditary meets May meets Fresh — and you're still not quite there.

The Boyz cover Barker's origin story (including his debut $800 found footage film Milk & Serial), the film's consent and mental health subtext, and whether Indy Navarrete is the next Mia Goth. All spoiler-free.

MK2 Full Spoiler Breakdown: Did This Sequel Fix the Franchise or Double Down on Its Mistakes?

FATALITY-level spoilers incoming! Cupcake, Mike (WillDaBeast), and returning guest Lucky Bri go deep on Mortal Kombat 2 (2026), directed by Simon McQuoid and starring Karl Urban as the washed-up action hero turned reluctant fighter Johnny Cage.

We cover the good (the Baraka fight sequence, Kitana's emotional revenge arc, the Kung Lao portal fight), the bad (the script's logic holes, Kitana suddenly fighting for Earthrealm, Scorpion's tacked-on return), and the very ugly (illogical plot twists, the endless revenant resurrection loop that drains every death of stakes). We also debate whether the franchise should just lean into being a 90-minute fight movie and stop reaching for Game of Thrones-esque mythology.

Two of us walked out calling it a watch, one a BIG skip. Listen to find out who's who.

MK2 (2026): Fatalities, Fan Service & a Panel Divided | ft. Brian from Lucky Finds Comics

Jose (Cupcake), Mike (WillDaBeast), and Brian from Luck Key Finds Comics go spoiler-free on Mortal Kombat 2 (2026) — and the panel is split wide open. Karl Urban arrives as Johnny Cage, Ludi Lin returns as Liu Kang, Josh Lawson is back as Kano, and Adeline Rudolph steps up as Katana in a film that's part fan service, part franchise-building behemoth, and — for at least one of us — a brutal disappointment. Fans of Mortal Kombat (1995), Mortal Kombat (2021), and classic video game tournament films like Enter the Dragon and Bloodsport will find a lot to chew on here. We dig into the franchise legacy, the creative team behind the film, and deliver three very different verdicts — including one that drops the hammer hard. Watch or skip? You'll have to listen to find out who loved it, who had reservations, and who called Finish Him on the whole thing.

🎧 SPOILER'D episode drops Sunday — same feed, no filter.

HOKUM (2026) — Full Spoiler Breakdown & Ending Explained

SPOILER WARNING — this one is fully spoiled. Cupcake and WillDaBeast go deep on Hokum, Damien McCarthy's 2026 supernatural Irish folklore horror starring Adam Scott, and nothing is off limits. What starts as a haunted hotel story quietly becomes something much more devastating: a film about guilt, accidental violence, and whether the ghosts we carry are out to destroy us or set us free. We unpack the full mythology of the witch in the honeymoon suite, trace every character's haunting back to its source, and wrestle with whether McCarthy earned his ending or showed too much too soon. Mike also gets personal in a way that genuinely stopped us in our tracks. We also break down the full Damien McCarthy filmography fingerprint....every crossbow, chalk circle, chained man, and creepy rabbit across Caveat, Oddity, and Hokum...and make the case that these three films deserve to be packaged and sold as an Irish folklore trilogy.
