Is there something you've been procrastinating? Or what about waiting to be ready to start something? This episode is chock-full of useful and scientific information -- including the makeup of and possible contributors of the wiring of the brain -- on why we procrastinate and how to improve in this area. People may want to wait until they're ready to start something, but according to Seth Godin, if you wait until you are ready, it is almost certainly too late. People can procrastinate for a variety of different reasons, including being fearful that they might not be good at something, or it's not an enjoyable task. Maybe they perceive that it will take too long. Usually things take less time to do than predicted! It's often not the action that is the issue, it's starting. That's why at the beginning of every workout, Peloton instructor Jess Sims says that you've completed the hardest part...showing up. Imagine if you started what you've been putting off when you thought about starting it. It's about progress and not perfection. Mel Robbins says, "Start late. Start over. Start scared. Start again. Just start."
