It seems strange once you're on the other side of it, but the epiphany, shall we say, that what you learn in jiu-jitsu and how well you learn in is as much if not more your responsibility than it is your instructors. Here I read on how I came to this realization, how I've then put it in practice as a jiu-jitsu coach, and how it informed questions I ask and things I say... carefully, and with intention.
