In this episode, I’m joined by philosopher, grief educator, and author Tom Attig for a thoughtful conversation about grief, meaning, and the mysteries of being human.
Tom helped create the world’s first PhD program in applied philosophy and has spent decades exploring the questions that can’t be neatly solved — questions about love, suffering, death, impermanence, and uncertainty. Together, we explore why grief is not a series of stages to complete, but rather a lifelong process of “relearning the world.”
We talk about what it means to continue loving and missing those we’ve lost, the importance of remembrance and legacy, and why our culture’s discomfort with death often leaves grieving people feeling isolated. Tom also shares his perspective on spirituality beyond religion, the difference between soul and spirit, and how humility and curiosity can help us navigate life’s biggest mysteries.
This conversation is a gentle reminder that some things are not meant to be solved — only lived, loved, and carried with us
