What were the first century Jews expecting?
They were expecting a king that would _____________ them from foreign oppression and _____________ God’s rule (Daniel—see notes below: cf Ezek 37:24-27)
Luke is framed with references to _________________ (Luke 1:1; 24:45-47)
Jesus is preaching the KOG: Luke 4:43; 8:1; 9:2, 11; 16:16; 18:29
Entrance into the KOG: Luke 18:9-19:10
Acknowledgement of sins (18:14)
Trust in Jesus alone (18:16-17, 37-42)
Confidence in nothing else (18:11-12, 18-30; 19:1-10)
Those who respond are:
Those who come to Him (18:16)
Those who follow Him (18:22, 28, 43)
Those who have faith in Him (18:42)
Those who welcome Him (19:6)
