Today's podcast is an inside look at what it's like running for a US Military Academy.
I have the privilege of speaking with Murphy Smith from the US Naval Academy.
Murphy has run 7:57 in the 3k, 13:55 in the 5k (indoor school record), and 28:37 in the 10k which is also a school record.
Back in high school, Murphy ran 2:00 in the 800m, 4:19 in the 1600m, and 9:15 in the 3200m. He was also a state-champion in the state of North Carolina.
Last year, Murphy qualified for the 2023 NCAA XC Championships individually, and this year just missed qualifying.
In today's conversation, Murphy takes me through what it's like to be a student-athlete at the United States Naval Academy, how he's grown as a person/athlete during his time there, what he wants his legacy to be, his outlook on his future in the sport, and much more.
This one was a really fun opportunity to look into a very unique life and hear more about how Murphy excels in various areas in his life.
