Oregon Football's Kayvon Thibodeaux, after off-season reports regarding concerns about his work ethic during games, was selected #5 overall by the New York Giants in the 2022 NFL Draft. As Oregon's 8th top-10 pick all time, Thibodeaux being the Ducks' third straight top 10 pick (Herbert, Sewell) is a good look for the Oregon Football program. He also might have found a great fit in New York with Don "Wink" Martindale as his defensive coordinator.

Thibodeaux being such a household name in this year's draft is a good sign as Dan Lanning and his staff pursue high-end defensive linemen on the recruiting trail.

Thibodeaux has long been considered a top draft pick, but this year he was Oregon's ONLY draft selection--though many were signed as undrafted free agents. The biggest surprises were Verone McKinley (1st-team all-american) and Mykael Wright (3x all-Pac 12 performer) who both went undrafted. McKinley signed with the Dolphins, while Wright is still looking for a team to give him a chance--why did they fall so far compared to their pre-draft expectations? Mykael Wright might have benefited from another year in college, but Verone McKinley's draft stock wasn't going to get any higher.
