Oregon Football had its first Spring Game of the Dan Lanning era, featuring a strong showing of over 42,000 fans at Autzen stadium--the first Spring Game fans have seen since 2019. After a season in which the downfield passing game was limited with Anthony Brown at quarterback, Bo Nix completed a 70-yard pass to WR Seven McGee on the first play from scrimmage. In a game where many had questions about how the offense would look, we got insight on how Oregon's offense will operate under new OC Kenny Dillingham. Including, to the delight of some Duck fans, snapping the ball to the QB from under center.

Several players impressed with standout performances, most of them on the offensive side of the ball with plenty of explosive plays. Dont'e Thornton showed some traits to former Cal WR DeSean Jackson with two long touchdowns, going over 100 yards receiving on just 3 catches. Seven McGee, who has said he idolized RB/WR De'Anthony Thomas growing up, showed an explosive versatility that was reminiscent of one of Oregon Football's most explosive offensive players.

On the defensive side of the ball, Dan Lanning has stressed the improvement that still needs to be made, and that was evident on Saturday. Though some forced turnovers made for some highlight moments, the aforementioned explosive plays came at the defense's expense. Still, a couple players on that side of the ball stood out--most notably DJ Johnson (LB/DE) who showed a lot of promise.
