Whats Next!? Podcast

I want to start out by saying that this is not a sports podcast unless the creative is starting up some team or a jersey printing company or something of the sort. With that being said Phil interrupts the episode to give us an update concerning the Los Angeles Lakers. (I hope you get to that point of the episode!!!)

It feels incredible to be back, shoutout to my SON John Ross Dike II. When he was born everything stopped. I was able to produce two episodes that week but dealing with HIM I had to skip a week! That skip was good, it helped me secure this conversation with my brother Phil Adesulu Jr. of JPRstyling. When I think of being creative it involves some piece of art. Whether it be drawing, painting, writing or acting, my vision of creativity falls in that realm! What happens to the creatives that are not artistic but find creativity in knowing exactly what to wear and when and how to wear clothes or outfits! I find out that the most important thing in a man's closet is CONFIDENCE! Phil recalls his first couple of experiences with fashion detailing back to his youth. He describes what he would recommend a guy who just came home from jail to buy to be current to the time period; as well as describes how JPRstyling got its start. You have to be careful as a creative not to get stuck trying to make your creations perfect; it can consume you and make you think that the mistakes made are not apart of the journey. It’s good to strive for perfection, but perfection comes with attempts, meaning one episode doesn’t make you perfect but continuing to drop episodes helps you work on perfection! With that said, I wanted to re-record this episode cause I made the same audio mistake as I did before in episode 15. K.A. Wright gave me some gems during this episode that I found invaluable. He spoke on his journey on why he wrote Perfect Just Like You! He spoke about his beginnings and how His artistry is derived! The experience for me that made me forget about second guessing this episode was the fact that He personalized a note and autographed a copy of Perfect Just Like You for MY SON with a date and time stamp! Somethings can recreated but moments like that, that I can speak to my son about I couldn’t recreate! This episode is also dedicated to my son! I love you Baby D! I don't know if any siblings in entertainment history ever sat down to talk about their journeys. On this episode, I get the opportunity to talk to my baby sister about her creativity. We find out that she has an allure for make up and skin. She mentions that she got her start using her best friend as a guinea pig and word of mouth got her more opportunities to do what she loves to do. Her process to getting dolled up takes about an hour and half. With it being prom season she attempted a prom give away were she would gift four high school girls a care package that consisted of make up, shoes, hair and a dress. She sites that charity to having a surplus of money and wanting to give back to the youth. Although plans didn't go as she had intended; we understand that being creative doesn't mean being perfect. Everyone remembers Katrina. That name is synonymous with destruction and loss. Hundreds of thousands of New Orleanians evacuated from New Orleans with nothing but a portion of their families, a few hundred dollars if that and despair. It leaves to question if anything good came out of Katrina. The answer I move to motion is Chef Nureka Chapman-Henderson. Throughout our conversation, I heard disappointment and frustration then I witnessed her Victor Lap. Chef attributes her craft to her city, being selfless, her upbringing and her grit. We talk about her humble beginnings in the 9th ward, how broken relationships caused her to close her first restaurant and regroup; the moment of the episode is when she has to answer if her skills surpass her mom, aunt and grandmother. Women have come a long way from where they used to be! I mean we can all agree on that! Without going to deep into that spill Blue's hustle is inspiring. I said this on this podcast "It's very seldom that someone's hustle parallels to yours" This woman embodies some many hats. She's an actress, emcee, poet, business owner and entrepreneur. I haven't acted in a while so believe me when I say this, Saturday (04/13/19) was magical. I love that feeling of being watched and cheered on stage. Film lasts forever but stage gives you spotlight and applause in that moment. In episode 10, I continue to talk to the talent and creatives from "Forever Yours". We were blessed to acquire Corrigan as an addition to the cast. The role of Caleb Dawson became his and he turned up during the weekend of the showcase. It was his Instagram that drew my attention; his drawings are so authentic,its as if he traced the imagines and put them on canvas. He assured me that tracing was his thing and he talks about seeing artistry and it being God given to him. Jala Jenkins talk about her master piece on Episode 3 of Whats Next!? So back to what I was saying, the second time did the play we had a different host. This go round, Josh "Kodak" Kaskin was the host, he originally was casted as Caleb Dawson but dude to life and other things he could not perform with me. I believe that it was supposed to workout that way! In the episode, we find out how he got his start in Hosting, we get to hear the poem he recited in Forever Yours, we talk about he evolution into becoming a poet and more. "You work until you can't get it wrong" those are the words that Corey said near the end of this episode. On this episode, I talk to an engineer who has a profound allure to the craft of DJ'ing. Corey and I went to high school together, he later went on to attend Prairie View A&M. DJ Dat Dude's style is using key words as a cue to blending the next song. I interacting with creatives who follow my platforms closely. It was during my first podcast that Corey and I reconnected! I came to find out that his wife and he had lost their baby and he explains the situation at the beginning of the episode!
