Author and policy director Chelsea Patterson Sobolik joins us today to discuss adoption, longing for motherhood, and her new book, Called to Cultivate. Every woman has experienced longing, even if it hasn’t been specifically for motherhood. Mother’s Day can be a difficult time for many women who have experienced loss or longing. How can churches both celebrate moms and recognize those in the room who don’t have a child to hold? What are some of the common issues women experience when their longings go unfulfilled? ABOUT CHELSEA SOBOLIK

Chelsea Patterson Sobolik is the author of Longing for Motherhood: Holding Onto Hope in the Midst of Childlessness and a forthcoming book on women and work. She is the Senior Director of Policy & Advocacy for Lifeline Children’s Services. Prior to joining Lifeline, she was the Director of Policy for the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC). Previously, she worked on Capitol Hill on a range of policy priorities. Chelsea has been published at the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The Gospel Coalition, Christianity Today, and other outlets.
