Millions of Americans are currently providing care to a loved one, and many more plan to do so in the future. However, caregivers are facing lasting financial, emotional and career impacts due to their roles, with little support or resources.
A new study from Edward Jones revealed that many caregivers are feeling financially strained. More than half say they’ve had to cut back on personal spending, and many have left a job (25%), scaled back their work hours (24%) or dipped into retirement savings to keep up (16%). In total, 95% are concerned about how caregiving will affect their ability to retire.
Additionally, most caregivers say the emotional toll is equally significant. Stress, burnout and a lack of personal time are common, and two-thirds admit they struggle to prioritize their own health while caring for others.
If you're enjoying the Show, it would mean the world to us if you took a second to leave a five star review on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, or Spotify, or wherever you're listening to us. It helps more people find the show and lets us know we're on the right track. We thank you in advance
