In this episode I sit down with Magnum street and portrait photographer Bruce Gilden to talk about the instincts, emotions and life experiences behind his unmistakable work. Bruce shares why the eyes are the emotional core of every portrait and what it takes to create images that hit you in the gut.

We talk about the people he feels drawn to, how his photographs mirror his own history and why certain subjects feel like reflections of his past. Bruce opens up about the places that shaped him, the physical and mental reality of close range street photography and why he still self funds projects that truly matter to him.

He reflects on how his work has evolved and what has stayed the same, why getting older has shifted his perspective and what still drives him to keep pushing for images that feel raw, honest and alive.
