Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of the Indian women's cricket team, has recently been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. During an ODI, match against Bangladesh in Dhaka, the celebrated displayed an outburst of poor behaviour that has drawn criticism from various quarters. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has subsequently handed her a two-match suspension.

The incident occurred during the third match of the ICC Women's Championship series. After being adjudged LBW, Kaur reacted by smashing the stumps with her bat and publicly criticising the umpiring. 


Kaur's behaviour has not only attracted penalties but also widespread criticism. She was accused of setting a bad example for young cricketers who look up to her. Former women's captain Diana Edulji expressed her disappointment in a column, stating that such behaviour can negatively impact the team culture over time. 


Kaur's behaviour was not worthy of an Indian cricket team captain. Also, the star player’s outburst and her subsequent behaviour during the post-match presentation ceremony might have an impact on the relations between the Indian cricket board and their Bangladesh counterparts.
