Today we went to the beautiful town of Crossmolina where a new Hollywood film is set. Wild Mountain Thyme stars Jamie Dornan, Emily Blunt and John Hamm and we spoke to Alan who runs the Mount Falcon Hotel where the cast and crew stayed - as did President-elect Joe Biden when he visited his homeland with his family. Eamon runs The Thatch pub in the town where Emily Blunt pulled a pint and Billy Connor owns the fabulous house where the action is set. They told Joe about what it means for the town. We went on to talk about accents as the cast's Mayo accents don't sound that authentic to our Irish ears. Orla is a huge Jamie Dornan fan and visited the set and won't hold his accent against him. Rosemary and Richard were both extras in Brooklyn and told about their experiences of working with the brilliant Saoirse Ronan. Graham rang to say the accents are 'repulsive' but he worst culprit is an episode of Murder She Wrote when Jessica Fletcher comes to Ireland. 'Oirish' accents are the only ones Americans can understand. Monica was a stand-in on Wild Mountain Thyme and said everyone involved was lovely and was lucky enough to dance with Jamie at the wrap party.
