It's no secret that Arizona State Sun Devils football struggled on offense last year, but the team's inability to score through the air was one of the biggest weaknesses the team dealt with in 2023. Heading into 2024, the pressure falls on Sam Leavitt to score more touchdowns after the Sun Devils tossed just eight touchdowns with six different passers last season. While he'll be without star receiver Elijhah Badger and tight end Jalin Conyers after both entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, he will have a literal big target in Troy Omeire returning who quietly tied Badger for the team lead in touchdown catches with three. Omeire enters a big season for himself as the potential number-one receiver for Arizona State Sun Devils football. Although Omeire's 20-catch sample size last season makes it difficult to determine if he's ready for such a role, the parts we saw showed a player who more than anything else can be a post-up player and a potential nightmare for opposing defenses once the Sun Devils get into the redzone.
