The Orlando Magic have a lot of players with high upsides who could shift the Magic's potential for the better. Who will step up to make the Magic championship contenders?

The answer may be an unlikely hero in Wendell Carter who could be the linchpin of the Magic's defense and a good safety valve in a smaller role for the Magic. He may not show up in the stat sheet, but Carter's presence will be big for the Magic this season.

Franz Wagner showed up big in Germany's EuroBasket opener, leading them with 22 points in a 30-point win over Montenegro. Germany's style and defense are reminiscent of the Magic and are a good analog for the way the Magic should continue to grow this season.
