Episode 95 (Danny Markov)

If you’re a diehard Red Wings fan, hold onto your butts! This one was a doozy!! We were joined by Bill “Whip” Lochead - after being drafted in 1974 by both the NHL (9th over all by Detroit Red Wings) and the WHA (2nd overall by Indianapolis Racers), Bill played 7 years in the NHL with Detroit, Colorado (Rockies), and the New York Rangers.

Whip played with some legendary names such as Paul Woods, Marcel Dionne, Rick Bowness, Red Berenson, and Mickey Redmond. Bill had quite the tale about Mickey back in the day - let’s just say we were CRACKING up (lol).

Episode 93 (Johan Franzen)

The guys this week were joined - for the THIRD time - by Derek Roehl. It’s always a pleasure having him on to talk about his college hockey days at Western Michigan or his 7 years in Europe. We kicked off things with a celly story - can anyone else do the Selanne celly?

We also discussed the state of the wings with Derek: Blashill, Larkin, the rookies, etc… The team is playing some good hockey of late, but the NHL is currently on pause til after the holiday. Speaking of which, Merry Christmas to you all from the Wing Sauce fam!!  We’ll chat again in another week when we’re gearing up for our two year anniversary.

Episode 92 (Vladislav Namestnikov)

Since it is his episode, we had a quick Vladdy story to start this eppie. Side note: our very own Connor McLyons played with Namestnikov on east side elite in 2015 AND won the championship. Don’t believe him? Just ask him to show you his trophy. Then he’ll reply with “which one?”

Boy were the fellas ever in a chipper mood this week!! 4 straight DUBS for the Winged Wheelers and no signs of slowing down. We’ve seen consistency and confidence from the rookies (Raymond, Seider, Nedeljkovic) and the veterans (Larkin, Bertuzzi).

We called out a few players in October that needed to step their game up a bit and most of those players have delivered! Suter, Zadina, and Fabbri have been playing some great hockey of late, and we hope that Rasmussen can wake up from his metaphorical coma and start filling the net or feeding apples.

Episode 91 (Sergei Fedorov)

Even though the Wings are on a bit of a skid, it’s Thanksgiving week, so we still stayed positive and talked about some of the takeaways from their road trip. 

We discussed the “Melee at LCA” with Beef Stew and LeBron. Who would’ve guessed that we would be discussing a basketball fight on a hockey podcast? In short, LeBron is and always will be a cheap shot pansy. 

We couldn’t end the episode without discussing what we’ll be shoving in our face holes for Turkey Day.

Episode 89 (Sam Gagner)

The boys had a blast talking about the youth movement in the D and how they are rejuvenating this team! Bert, Raymond, And Seider are on fire and there are no signs of slowing down. 

Bert is rubbing elbows with the top scorers in the NHL, Raymond is looking like an early Calder favorite (knock on wood), and Seider is right behind him - especially with his first tuck - OT winner - second in franchise history to get their first goal as an OT winner. A LOT to brag about as a Wings fan!

Episode 87
