ABC News Correspondent Jim Ryan talks about how the Federal Aviation Administration will reduce flight capacity by 10% at 40 major airports across the country, officials announced during a press conference on Wednesday. The restrictions will go into effect Friday morning, FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said. Both Bedford and Duffy emphasized that the decision to cut down flights is a proactive measure based on data the department has reviewed, and the staffing pressures anticipated to grow during the shutdown. The forthcoming reduction in capacity marks an unprecedented move by the FAA and the Department of Transportation. Bedford said he had never seen this happen before in his 35-year career.

Today, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jefferies re-iterated that Democrats are willing to negotiate with Republicans to end this shutdown. Despite frustration all around, a new poll from KFF (a non-partisan research group) shows 48% of people agree that Democrats should continue refusing to approve a budget, unless it includes extending the Affordable Care Act tax credits, even if it means the government remains shut down.

2. Already experiencing longer lines at the airport? Now, get ready for fewer flights. The U.S. will reduce air traffic by 10% across 40 "high-volume" markets beginning Friday. Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy is citing staffing shortages, specifically Air Traffic Controllers, related to the ongoing government shutdown. Milwaukee's Mitchell International is not on the list but that certainly doesn't mean air travelers are in the clear.

3. President Trump just announced a major deal with pharmaceutical companies Eli Lily and Novo Nordisk. This will lower the cost of some weight loss drugs for many Americans, including those on Medicare. GLP-1 drugs like Wegovy and Zepbound currently cost roughly $500 out-of-pocket for those without insurance.

2. Jury Deadlocked in D.C. Deliberations continue today in a packed court room in Washington DC in the trial of Sean Dunn, also known as "The DC Sandwich Guy". Dunn launched a salami sandwich at a federal agent as a way of expressing opposition to President Donald Trump's law-enforcement surge in the nation's capital, August 10th. During closing arguments on Wednesday, Dunn’s attorney told the jury the sandwich toss was protected speech. The jury must decide whether the sandwich toss into meets, that's meets, not meats, the definition of “forcibly” and whether Dunn assaulted the agent.

3. The search for victims continues today in Louisville, after that deadly plane crash on Tuesday. A UPS cargo plane went down just after takeoff. This is a difficult recovery process because of the buildings that were destroyed. The search teams must sift through all the charred, mangled metal. The death toll is now up to 12. Nine people remain missing today.
