The London Stock Exchange opened more than 5 percent down. The Italian market is down more than 7 percent, Germany 6 percent and France 5 percent. Shipments of British-made Jaguar and Land Rovers vehicles to the US are currently suspended over the new Trump tariffs. Trump's plan calls for a 25% tariff on all cars being imported into the United States.

3. Trump's message to the American people is "HANG TOUGH" as market volatility continues today in the States. Traders searching for any sign that President Trump’s tariffs could be negotiated or halted. The European Union is “ready to negotiate” with the United States and has offered to scrap tariffs on industrial goods according to the President of the European Commission. The Volatility Index has reached its highest level in eight months. The indicator measures how variable investors expect the markets to be over the next thirty days, which is why some also call it the "fear gauge”.

We're learning new information regarding the case of a missing and pregnant teenager from Beaver Dam, who was found near Omaha, Nebraska late Wednesday, her alleged abductor is now being extradited to Wisconsin. 40-year-old Gary Day has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and false reporting, according to WOWT in Omaha. He will appear again in Sarpy County, Nebraska, court this afternoon for a bond hearing. He also has a pretrial hearing scheduled for June 5th. Day is also believed to be the father of the 17-year-old Franklin's unborn child.

3. Employers added 228 thousand jobs in March, higher than the 130 thousand economists had expected. According to the jobs report, the unemployment rate moved from 4.1 percent to 4.2 percent.

ABC News Policy Reporter Cheyenne Haslett talks about how on the heels of terminating 10,000 jobs from the Health and Human Services Department this week, Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told ABC News some programs would soon be reinstated because they were mistakenly cut. Kennedy's comments were in response to a question about the program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that monitors lead levels among children and manages prevention. The program was completely cut on Tuesday. “There were some programs that were cuts that are being reinstated, and I believe that that's one,” Kennedy said, speaking to reporters after an event at a school in Alexandria, Virginia, Kennedy said that other programs across HHS would be reinstated as well. It would not be the first time that jobs were reinstated after DOGE cuts. In the first round of firings, targeted at probationary workers, hundreds of CDC and FDA employees were later brought back.
