Purify Your Church, O Lord

WOMEN OF GRACE host Johnnette Williams was touch by once priest thoughts of the current scandal in the Church. Fr. Bryan Jerabek from St. Pauls in Birmingham Al had this to say: “

“We as a Church have been through so much already in this regard, and even if these types of sins and crimes happen at all levels of human society – and thus, there is a wider problem that still needs to be addressed – yet they should never happen among men of the Church: men who have been consecrated to God, whose hands have been anointed with the sacred Chrism, whom Christ has claimed for his own; men who, by doing such despicable things, not only cause untold harm to souls and such great scandal, but also deeply offend our Lord and prolong his suffering through time. In the present case, these are literally “sins that cry to heaven for vengeance”, as the scriptures teach and the Catechism reminds us.7 It is proper and normal to be upset. Perhaps, for some, this situation is even a test of faith”

Caller Mary suggested to need to clean the Church. Maria called in to remind Johnnette of Bella Dood a Russian who wanted to bring down the Church from the inside. Johnnette shares that we must be one person with a body and a soul. We must strengthen it with prayer life and scripture. We must conduct our life Christ. We must not lack charity. This a our choice of freewill. Elizabeth called and wanted to know if a non-Catholic and join in the Women of Grace study. Johnnette says yes and it can also be done online. Maura has questions about obedience. She sometime has problems with it. Johnnette says that it can be a difficult virtue to have especially in this ‘Do your own thing’ world . It gives a false notion on obedience. Caller Lisa feels like she does not have charity when she has to take care of her ageing parent and cringes when they call her. She is obedient and cares for them but she feels empty. Johnnette says that giving when we don’t feel it is a gift of Holy Spirit. You get more graces when it deprives us when we sacrifice. Guarding Against Discourse

“..Do not devote your attention to the fallacies of artificial discourses, nor the vain promises of plagiarizing heretics…” These are the words of Saint Hippolytus and are shared by WOMEN OF GRACE host Johnnette Williams . She says there is many discourses around us and we must guard our heart. Callers Danielle & Marie see a discourse in a TV program that is telling falsehoods about the Saints. Johnnette tells them to study them as there more truths in their lives. Deborah’s discourse comes from her sister who has given her daughter ‘angel tarot cards’ to help them contact her late son. How does she tell her fragile sister the Church does not believe in this practice? Johnnette reads from the Catholicism about how we are not to seek oracles of dead spirits. Caller Maria tells that the greatest prayer against discourses is the Rosary. Johnnette agrees and tells of how her grandmother prayed it for her 13 times a day. Good Habits

WOMEN OF GRACE host Johnnette Williams shares that today is the feast of St. Dominic and how she was taught by the Dominican sisters. She asks the question before your deathbed what good habits do you need to have done? Are serious are you with those habits? Jennifer calls and tells Johnnette that she is thinking of dropping her Catholic faith since her fiancé left her. Why be good? Johnnette explains that we all suffer and have a cross. We do not expect crosses in our lives. Do not pull back because of a heart wound. Take courage. Caller Christine had an accident with a truck and the van she drives her special needs child in was totaled. Johnnette asks for prayers for justice and a resolution. Harold lives in a wheel chair and ventilator. He has struggles but gives them to God. He tries to remain faithful. Johnnette shares that his cross is not a weakness but a treasure in gold for God.
