What do the Super Bowl, NBA finals, and World Cup all have in common? ⁣

They are the biggest sites in the world when it comes to human and sex trafficking. ⁣

⁣

Your Working Dog Radio Hosts, Eric @vanessk9 & Ted @ted_summers sit down with repeat guest from Episode 127, Mike Jones of Primal Canine @primalcanine⁣

⁣

We touch on a variety of topics in this episode including “The Fight.” ⁣

For those of you that don’t know, Mike started in an animal shelter in San Jose at the young age of 13, MIke has been involved with dogs or all shapes, sizes, and problems for years. He then got into sportwork, which evolved into protection dogs, and Primal Canine was born. ⁣

⁣

The guys sit down and talk with Mike about his partnership with with Ray Allen, honing the essential equipment you’re familiar with today (and creating new equipment to meet the ever evolving needs of training!) ⁣

We get into his Professional Protection Dog Sport,  K9 Street League. They host seminars, trials, and you can watch it live online! They are doing amazing working donating to troubled youth foundations! ⁣

k9streetleague.com⁣

⁣

The biggest reason MIke joined us for this episode is “The Fight.” Mike has made it his mission to donate money and dogs to the Glory House in Miami, so that survivors of human and sex trafficking can be protected by dogs. This is huge in giving survivors the peace of mind with a dog. He has put together an all star team to help teach them how to defend themselves and defend themselves with their dogs. He goes into detail on how he got started in this and why he has chosen to make this his mission!  They have a raffle to raise money and here are just a few of the things you could win!⁣

Your Working Dog Radio hosts, Eric @vanessk9 & Ted @ted_summers, sit down with⁣ one of Eric’s favorite people in K9, Eloise Yeomans.

Eloise has quite the history; as a Brit, she was in the British forces, she worked as a door to door salesperson, and as a fire fighter. She then came to the USA and focused on Accelerant Detection Canines before getting into some badass decoy work and meeting Eric and Ted at HRD. (Ted believes Eloise has decoyed more dogs than most people will ever deal with!) The trio talk about how female decoys excel with muzzle work, and get into Eloise’s work teaching at decoy camps.

⁣

Eric talks about how pet dogs make you a better trainer, and segue into Eloise’s Pet/Working Dog company, Lifeline Training & Boarding in Tennessee, as well as training protection dogs and her contract work in Barbados.⁣

⁣

Eric wraps up this episode by giving some really amazing advice for those in the service, law enforcement, firefighters, etc; so listen to the end of the episode to get the advice you need to hear!!!⁣

Your Working Dog Radio hosts, Eric @vanessk9 & Ted @ted_summers, sit down with⁣ founder and CEO of Street Cop Training, Dennis Benigno. ⁣

⁣

The gents get into Benigno’s history (seriously, the guy has multiple awards including but not limited to Lifesaving, Meritorious Service, Mayor’s Award for Excellence in Public Service, Several Letters of Recognition, Leadership awards, and Certificates of Appreciation from several law enforcement organizations) as well as the how & why Street Cop Training got started. ⁣

⁣

They also hit on several other important topics/rants:⁣

-Eric’s favorite: how Administration making decisions are often out of touch⁣

-Ted’s favorite: case law⁣

-Everyone’s favorite: moose knuckles ⁣

⁣

⁣Benigno first got into law enforcement at the age of 19 as a NJ Corrections Officer. Three years later, Benigno became a police officer with the US Park Police Dept. in Washington, DC, and in 2005 moved over to the position of a police officer in one of NJ’s largest municipalities. As a police officer, Benigno has affected over 1,500 arrests and has conducted well over 10,000 motor vehicle stops.⁣

⁣

In 2012, Benigno founded Street Cop Training and began formal police instruction for actual police tactics that work and save lives; their top priority is to not die, and save lives. It is now one of the fastest-growing LEO education companies in the country, and partners with several non-profits and works to provide no-cost support to several families and members of the law enforcement community.⁣

This is our last episode from our Hold the Line Conference Series! The gents dive into muzzle work and how to start muzzle fighting, mistakes people make, what they need to be watching for when doing muzzle work. Ted mentions how muzzle work is the hardest work as a decoy. ⁣

⁣

John teaches two classes, a basic muzzle work class, and an advanced muzzle work class. His class starts from the beginning on how to enhance your canine’s genetic fight drive through muzzle training.  Teach your dog that the fight is with the man and not the equipment to help make for a much more reliable street ready partner.⁣

They chat about being at and under threshold and give examples⁣, and get into problem solving failed engagement. Your Working Dog Radio hosts, Eric @vanessk9 & Ted @ted_summers, sit down with⁣ Sergeant Kenny Williams. ⁣

⁣

This is our third episode from our Hold the Line Conference Series, and just like our previous guest, Instructor Sgt. Kenny Williams instructs with Street Cop Training. Williams is one of the country’s leading experts in criminal vehicle interdiction. Additionally, he is a fully certified EPIC and DIAP instructor. Williams began his career in 2007, and currently works as a full-time K9 interdiction officer. Over his career, he has worked with 2 single purpose dogs, and has been personally responsible for the seizure of over 6 million dollars in cash, several hundred pounds of illicit narcotics, and well over a ton of marijuana. Williams has received countless awards for his work from numerous organizations and has established a national reputation.⁣

⁣

He was teaching his Interdiction Mastermind class at the Hold the Line K9 conference. His course was intended to give police officers a clear understanding of what it means to be an effective criminal interdiction officer. Williams broke down, piece by piece, the tactics and mindset utilized by proactive police officers. He covered the importance of vehicle selection for a pre-textual stop, and went through how and why he chooses specific vehicles. Having this knowledge can save countless hours of trial and error. His course, “Interdiction Mastermind,” also covered why criminals join criminal enterprises, common drug routes, body language, deceptive behavior, and common-sense approaches to understanding reasonable suspicion. If you didn’t get a chance to catch him at Hold the Line, you’ll want to be sure to pick up some tips from this episode!! Follow him at @red_ninja111

Your Working Dog Radio hosts, Eric @vanessk9 & Ted @ted_summers, sit down with⁣ Joe Gionti of K9 Heroes 4 Heroes. ⁣

⁣

This is our second episode from the Hold the Line Conference Series ⁣ and we talk with Joe Gionti from K9 Heroes 4 Heroes, which is an incredible charity. When you listen to this episode, you can hear Gionti’s passion for helping those who wore the uniform get the dog they need! K9 Heroes 4 Heroes was started in January of 2021, and their mission is to to provide service dogs to veterans and first responders. They talk about Loki, who is a GSD out of Diehl Police K9 Training Center, trained as the demo dog for veterans and first responders at K9 Heroes 4 Heroes, and Loki is the face of K9H4H. The gents discuss the importance of selection and background of service and why that is extremely important. ⁣

⁣

The team at K9H4H believe that no amount of money can truly repay our veterans and first responders for what they sacrifice for our country. So, what they saw as an opportunity to help, they quickly learned was an immeasurable act. Connecting dogs with veterans and first responders has had a powerful impact on overall mental and physical well being. There's nothing quite like a bond between man and dog. ⁣

⁣

Gionti talks about their current fundraiser, the Benno 2.0 Fundraiser; a minimum of $50 get you an entry into the milestones raffle. Please head over to their website and learn more about Benno and his handler, Trent McDonald.⁣ Trent is a friend of the podcast and has been on an episode! ⁣

Garber managed fundraising for a  dog program, purchasing all equipment, vehicles, and dogs through fundraising; raising over $260K in donations, merchandise⁣ sales, and grants starting and sustaining the K9 program.

The sad truth is the majority of our K9 teams are not budgeted, but funded by our own fundraising and community support. Garber goes over set up, compliance, funds, 501c3’s, organizations, fundraising ideas, merchandising, community donations (how and where to get them), websites, online stores, social media, protecting the money and building better financial backing for your program. Your Working Dog Radio hosts, Eric @vanessk9 & Ted @ted_summers, sit down with⁣ retired Australian Army soldier, current Origin K9 owner and founder, as well as fellow Podcaster, Tom Brown. @origin.k9

The gents sit down with Tom Brown and talk about his life and history working as a K9 handler. Brown was so passionate about the industry that he sold his car, and used his savings to start Origin K9, which now contributes to his former community by manufacturing tactical canine equipment. Brown also trains multi-purpose canines, explores performance, and shares experiences in the tactical canine world through his podcast, The Origin K9 Podcast. You want to be sure to check it out!!

Brown spent 12 years in the Australian Army, during which time, he deployed to the Middle East multiple times as an Infantry and Special Forces soldier as well as Domestic Counter Terrorism. Brown was a K9 handler with the Second Commando Regiment and fulfilled that role as a member of the Tactical Assault Group (East) as part of the Special Forces Domestic Counter-Terrorism capability. With his career ending abruptly in 2019 due to a mental injury, Brown wanted to find a way to stay connected to, and contribute to, the working K9 community, so Brown started Origin K9 and began manufacturing industry specific equipment. Brown also developed dual role K9s for government agencies and trained pet dogs before starting Origin K9 manufacturing in 2022.

This is where he noticed a severe lack of industry support for the K9 industry. Brown is committed to providing the best equipment possible to the K9 handlers still doing their jobs on the front line of policing or the battlefield, and sees himself and Origin K9 as a way to enhance that capability. He knows all too well the reality of operations and the struggles that can be faced by Military and Police members, and sees the struggles faced by those members still conducting operations or having transitioned out of the service. Brown started the Origin K9 podcast as a way to remain connected with the community and ensure that their voices are heard.
