1) For most of modern history, the stories and the voices of women have been silenced. In order to get their books published, many women used a male pen name to circumvent the prejudice of the time. As recently as twenty years ago, J.K. Rowling decided to conceal her gender as the author of the Harry Potter series by using her initials instead of her name. Expressing yourself as a woman is still a new thing, and having support to do it is crucial.

2) Your book changes everything because it changes YOU. Who you become in the process of writing your book is EVERYTHING. No one can take that away from you. Once you write your story you are an author, for the rest of your life!
