Hello, all! We’re taking some time off during the holidays to be with our lovelies, so we picked our top six favorite XOXOJK episodes with juicy updates added for you. ENJOY and HAPPY HOLIDAYS from everyone at XOXOJK!
Are female friendships the new power couple? We hash out the good (real talk) and bad (social media jealously) sides of showing off your friendships. There are many different kinds of friendships and they are all to be celebrated: acquaintanceships, BFFs, sex talk friends, that one high school friend that you still talk to, shopping friends. And here’s the thing, they’re all great. Celebrate them however you want, sensible red lip or not. My squad doesn’t look like yours — and that’s okay. Two good friends or ten are both okay! Just don’t forget to buy them an eight way BFF pizza necklace.

Bottom line: we are all human beings and that makes us deserving of love and happiness. This week we deep dive into something we’ve both been privy to in our lives: feeling stuck. Jenn’s feeling the burn right now and shares a bit of reflection into her personal and professional life, as she navigates her own muddy waters. Taking a note from Kate, and her own story about feeling “worthy”, not getting what you need, and repeating behaviors, we open up dialogue to help recognize why feeling stuck is something to pay attention to. PREACH HAND EMOJI!!! And can we talk about Kate’s insight into the different value we can place on all sorts of different work? This is why she’s the XOXO part of this podcast, peeps. Hit us up and share your stories about how you define personal and professional success, what practices you put in place to ‘unstick’ yourself, and how you find ‘your people’. Thanks for listening!

This week we have a special guest cohost, Kate’s lifelong friend, the gorgeous and glorious Dayna Myos! They’ve been friends since childhood and lived together in college, so stories. Dayna is filling in for Jenn while she recovers from strep throat. GWS JENN! Dayna is a tennis player and tall glass of water as well as single and looking for just the right gentleman. Fellas. Dayna just finished a 14-day detox after a spring of travel and some indulgence. She’s on a longer wellness journey as well, tuning into food sensitivities and trying new workouts and working with a personal trainer. Being an avid tennis player, we talk through the traditions of Wimbledon and how conveniently it falls on American Independence Day, making Dayna, who intensely dislikes fireworks, realize she’ll travel to see it live next year over the holiday. CONVENIENT. Speaking of travel, we talk through the pros and cons of leasing vs. buying cars as we are both in the market. We decide to go on a day of test drives together, which may or not be a future episode. Then: we wrangle our Tweets of the week. Good job, Dayna! And thanks for stepping in, hot stepper.

On episode 46 of XOXOJK Jenn and Kate talk to Sarah Fastner, a stylist with The Stylist Online, a national network of personal stylists and home of ‘The Style Dial’, a bias-free tool to determine one’s body type(s). They talk through frustrations with how body types have been referred to in the past as food (pear!?) or geometry (triangle!?), some examples of her personal style consulting, and what styles work with what body types.
Jenn:

Kate:
Omg, we get it Adele. Your eyeliner is perfect.

Jenn and Kate have both had success using Eastern Medicine therapies, and on episode 44 of XOXOJK, we welcome Amy Kuretsky from Amy K Acupuncture onto the show so we can chat her up about it. Amy K is an acupuncturist, herbalist, cyclist, paleo foodie, and dog lover known for helping people find their own kind of balance in order to stay sane and healthy. She loves working with creative professionals who struggle with anxiety and the terrible “pit-in-your-gut” feeling that stems from the weight of deadlines, scheduling and expectations. Amy believes 100% that we play an active and integral part in our own health and that we can’t just watch from the sidelines. We need to take an active role, and she’s here to coach us through. We set up a series of questions about acupuncture (and poop) for her, and she delivers some seriously great answers. Thanks for listening! Enjoy.
