匯流排因為是一種公共通道，跟公共汽車一樣，稱為bus，很好記。匯流排有分資料匯流排data bus、地址匯流排Address Bus，和控制匯流排Control Bus。Motherboard主機板，有時候也可能被叫作 system board 或 mainboard，就像在不同的情境下稱呼板子、主板、母板一樣。Component 是元件、零組件的意思，也可以看情況用parts、units、devices來替換。

我們透過平行處理加速運算系統，以處理大規模資料。
We use parallel processing to accelerate our computing system so that it can handle large-scale data.

Parallel 是指平行的東西，像平行宇宙就叫parallel universe。如果是同步處理資料，因為是同步平行進行的意思，也可以用parallel來表達。accelerate 是動詞加速，像汽車踩油門加速也是accelerate。規模的英文是scale，大規模、小規模可以用large、small來表達。如大規模資料是large-scale data，小規模研究是small-scale study。

這個協定可以支援離散資性料和類比資料。
This protocol can support both discrete data and analog data.

我們在交換資料的時候常常必須要使用通用的格式或協定，就稱為protocol。而discrete是一個比較難的字，中文叫做「離散」，也有人稱為「間斷的」，也就是不連續的意思，例如有些資料只會有0/1、true/false、on/off、或只有整數0,1,2,3…不會出現0.1、0.2，這樣的資料可以稱為離散性資料discrete data。反之，類比資料analog data是連續的，中間不會有間斷。如果只想要說數位資料的話，可以用digital這個字比較簡單，如digital data、digital signal。

啟動(程序)：activate
緊急斷電：emergency shutdown

當偵測到電壓過高，裝置會啟動緊急斷電功能避免損害。
When an overvoltage is detected, the device will activate an emergency shutdown to prevent damage.

電壓叫做voltage，所以我們常說電壓幾福特，就是voltage。前面加over就代表超過的意思，像8月7號那集有分享過「過熱」叫做overheating，體重過重叫overweight，那電壓太高就是overvoltage。Activate是啟動、活化的意思，大陸翻譯作「激活」。Shutdown是斷電，在緊急的情況下自動斷電，稱為emergency shutdown。

迴路: circuit
微控制器: microcontroller (unit), MCU
重新走線: rewire

連接到微控制器的迴路燒掉了，所以我們要重新走線。
The circuit to the microcontroller (unit) is burnt out, so we have to rewire it.

circuit是迴路，短路可以直接用"短"short這個字，叫short circuit，也就是"秀逗"。micro是微小的意思，像microsoft是微軟。controll是控制，所以微控制器就是microcontroller，後面也可以加unit單元，microcontroller unit，簡稱MCU。Wire是電線，而任何字前面加re通常是重新來一遍的意思，所以rewire就是重新走線。

我因為生病需要請假一段時間，我不在的時候，專案由Jack代理，感謝您的理解。
I'm taking some time off due to illness. During my absence, Jack will fill in for me on the project. Thanks for your understanding.

為什麼今天的句子是請假跟代理呢? 因為上禮拜我生病有兩天沒有錄podcast，所以今天想分享請假和代理的說法。Take some time off是請假的意思，請假一天就是take a day off，請假一週就是take a week off。不在、缺席的英文叫absence，是在場、出席presence的相反。代理某人的職務可以說是fill in for somebody，甚至可以省略fill，只說 in for也是代理的意思，所以可以說Jack will be in for me。

我們發現電容焊接不良導致了故障。
We found that poor soldering of a capacitor has caused the malfunction.

我想特別介紹「焊接」這個詞，焊接有分成好幾種，如果是電子業用錫膏低溫焊接，叫作solder，溫度大概攝氏180~260度，但一般工人要把兩根金屬用火槍焊接在一起叫作braze，溫度大概1000度，如果是建築工地那種更高溫、要戴面罩、會噴火花的那種叫作weld，溫度大概1200度。是個有趣的小知識。

定義：define, definition


請與廠商確認是否定義也沒有規範，並商討後續是否需要定義。
Please confirm with the vendor if there's no definition for this item, and whether we should define it.

Confirm 的意思是確認某件事情是否為真。Vendor是指供應特定零件的廠商、販售商，如果用supplier的話，意思會變成泛指上游供應商。在這句話中因為是針對明確的物件，所以用vendor比較好。定義的動詞叫define，名詞是definition。

量產：mass production

量產階段，品管團隊會確保產品品質一致性。
The QC team will ensure product consistency during mass production.

QC 是 quality control 品質控制的縮寫。產品的一致性可以用consistency這個字。consistent是一致的意思，變成名詞就是把結尾的t改成cy，consistency。量產是大量+生產，大量就是mass，生產就是production，所以量產就是mass production。

不足：insufficient
驗證：verify

目前已經排除了供電不足的原因，接下來會驗證穩壓器的部分。
We've ruled out insufficient power as the cause, and next, we'll be verifying the voltage regulator.

Rule是判斷、決定的意思，to rule out表示判斷某個東西出局，也就是排除的意思。相反的你也可rule in something，表示把某個東西納入變成可能的選項。sufficient是足夠的，前面加in就變成反義字insufficient不足。Verify是確認、驗證的意思。在這邊也可以用check檢查、confirm確認、validate驗證來替代。
