今天我们要说的这个Dispatcher是在警察局接警中心工作的接线员。

In the United States, a 5-year-old boy made a heartbreaking call to the police telling the dispatcher that “my daddy and my mama got shot.”

今年早些时候，美国田纳西警方接到一个报警电话。

打电话过来的就是这个5岁的小男孩。

Later, the police released the audio to the public.

等警察赶到小男孩的家里之后发现，他的父母已经没有了生命迹象。

And they say the child is unharmed and is currently with extended family.

The boy remained on the phone with the dispatcher for more than a minute, as she repeatedly reassured(使安心)him that help was on the way. 

据报道，这个男孩的父亲是黑帮成员。

但至于为何被人枪杀 尚未可知。

I really don’t know how is boy when he saw his parents' death at home.

How will he deal with all these, he is just 5 years old.

不知道这个小男孩现在过着什么样的生活。

We just hope he can get through the pain and soon move on his own life.

天我们要讲的这个devastate的人，是一个想要跟女友求婚的男孩。

His name is Picca.

When Picca planned on proposing(求婚) to his girlfriend Kayla. I bet he didn't imagine it going like this.  

Picca准备向自己心爱的人求婚，于是要求她去他们最喜欢的一家餐厅。

He planned to pop the question at their favorite restaurant, which is right by the water. 

When he got down on one knee on the dock(码头) and opened the ring box, the worst possible thing happened — the ring fell out and sunk into the ocean.

鼓足勇气单膝下跪后，刚把戒指盒子拿出来，万万没想到，戒指跳出盒子，一个优雅的转身，落入大海！

当时新娘就愣住了！

她说：“I covered my face and began to cry because I knew my boyfriend was devastated，he did not even get to say anything to me before the ring fell into the ocean."

But 就在此时，

Their friends and strangers all jumped into the water with their clothes on and searched for the ring in the ocean.

Picca reassumed his kneeling position and proposed.

And of course, the girl said YES.

事后周围的人都非常非常开心，Picca也说：“They were amazing and we are so grateful to have their help that night."

When most students listen to a native English-speaker, they focus on understanding what all the words mean.

这个当然也很重要。

但除此之外，Try listening not just to what the words mean, but to how the person says them. 

看看他们把哪些词连起来说了，哪些词着重读出来了，语气语调是什么样的。

Easier said than done, right?

6. Use It or Lose It

There’s an expression in English: “Use it or lose it,” which basically means if you don’t practice an ability, you might forget it. 

记住一个单词最好的办法就是马上使用它。When you learn a new word, try to say it in sentences a few times over the next week and you’ll never forget it.

7. Try not to Study Grammar Too Much

Speaking English fluently isn’t the same as knowing perfect English grammar – even native English-speakers make grammar mistakes!

8. Don’t Be Afraid of Making Mistakes

千万不要怕犯错！

Don’t let the fear of saying something wrong stop you from speaking at all. 

Even if you think you’re making a mistake, keep speaking anyway. 

即使你的口语里有错误，只要别人理解你的意思就无所谓的。

又不是考试填空。

Plus, the more you speak, the easier it gets, and the more quickly the right words will come to mind.

Here are some tips that will help you speak English better than ever.

1. Accept That English Is a Weird Language

你要先知道英语真的是一种奇怪的语言

Sometimes you can find patterns in English grammar, but other times English doesn’t make sense at all. 

语法这种东西若有若无，无法捉摸。

Sometimes English is just weird and unexplainable(无法解释).

So a good memory is very useful when talking about learning English.

2. Practice makes perfect 

每周花一天时间拼命的学几个小时英语并不会让你的口语有很大的提高。

The better way to quickly improve your English is to spend at least a few minutes practicing every day. If you want to speak English fluently, you need to make it an essential part of your daily life.

比如，你可以每天听听英语悠选的节目，然后跟着读一读。

3. You are an English speaker.

Stop thinking of yourself as someone who is learning English, and start thinking of yourself as someone who speaks English.

遇到自己会说的英语时，就堂堂正正的讲出来，自信对于学英语来说非常非常非常重要。

This also means you need to start thinking in English.

比如你看到公交车，你可能需要先在脑子里获取中文然后再找寻对应的英文。

这种中文转化为英文的过程，也会影响英语的熟练程度。

Instead, try imagining a picture of a bus, and then just think the English word “bus”.

这很难，也需要很多时间。

Real fluency happens when you stop mentally translating conversations.

4. Remember the Answer Is in the Question

答案就在问题里

If someone asks you a question and you’re not sure how to answer, start by thinking about the words used in the question.

For example:

•           Does he…..?                       Yes, he does.

•           Can she….?                         Yes, she can.

•           Is it….?                                  Yes, it is.

问问题的人其实就把答案给你了，只要你认真听并且能记住他说了什么？

考试的时候这一招超级管用。

There are a lot of simple ways and you can make good use of them to make it easier to remember the right words.

有魅力的，引人注目的。
