This is a collection of short stories that I have written and collected over the years. Some are humorous, some are thought provoking, and I feel fairly certain that each and every person listening to this work will be offended in one way or another. If that's not the case, then I have a lot of work to do. That being said, sit back and enjoy.

    Intriquing glimpses
This was an intriguing novel - or novella, really, since it is very short and succinct. It succeeds in presenting a memorable portrait of the composer that is minimalist in style, quirky, but also insightful and, ultimately, touching.
    Biography by Indirection
Most other reviews of Echenoz's brilliant biographical novella are listed under theEnglish edition. I was given the book in French, which was an experience of its own: a precise detachment of style linked to a vocabulary of extraordinary richness, giving the impression of a luxuriant hothouse hidden behind a pristine marble facade. A triumphant marrying of style to subject, therefore, because this is clearly the author's view of his subject, the French composer Maurice Ravel, shown here in the final decade of his life. Glancing through the English edition, though, I see three things that I missed: the elegant translation by Linda Coverdale, the biographical end-notes about the many figures encountered in the text (many of whom I recognized, but not all), and an exquisite introduction by Adam Gopnik, who is always worth reading, but most especially on French subjects.
The book opens in 1927 with Ravel's departure for his one and only American tour, a hectic itinerary, zigzagging across the continent and back again by luxury train. Already France's most celebrated composer, Ravel's American success secured his position on the international stage.

Life is Made Beautiful Through Hardships
Would you listen to Ties That Bind again? Why?
While I enjoyed the story, I have a hard time reliving a raw yet breathtaking story because it pulls so strongly on my heart. I feel like I have been through the ringer the first time, that I can't expose myself to it again for fear it might break me.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Pat's husband Charles was my favorite character because he stood by her side no matter what. He knew that life isn't easy, and many things can influence us and change us without our even knowing. He also knew that Pat was a wonderful woman despite her hard past that shaped and molded her. He saw the precious treasure she was and encouraged her to grow and become who he saw when he looked at her.
    Which scene was your favorite?
When Charles held Pat after she confessed to now understanding why she slapped their daughter when she was running late for breakfast. He understood it wasn't intentional and gently encouraged and guided her to seek help to figure out what was happening. He didn't yell at her, but loved and lifted her up.
If you could take any character from Ties That Bind out to dinner, who would it be and why?
I would take Pat to dinner because I think we would have some things in common to talk about. It would be a comfortable connection.
    Any additional comments?
This was a very inspiring story that I enjoyed even if it was hard at times to listen to.
    Surprisingly Fantastic
I was very surprised by this book. It's not my normal type of read. But I enjoyed it very much. I could relate since I'm adopted myself. I enjoyed her spunk and determination to find out who her parents were and where she came from!!! I enjoyed the narrator!! She was perfect to read this book!! Good job all the way around!!!

    Title: Wild Chicory
    Author: Kim Kelly
    Narrator: Edwina Wren
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 3 hrs and 32 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 04-14-16
    Publisher: Audible Studios
    Genres: Fiction, Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
Wild Chicory is the story of a journey from Ireland to Australia in the early 1900s, along threads of love, family, war and peace. It's a slice of ordinary life rich in history, folklore and fairy tale and a portrait of the precious bond between a granddaughter, Brigid, and her grandmother, Nell. From the windswept emerald coast of County Kerry to the slums of Sydney's Surry Hills; and from the bitter sectarian violence of Ulster to the tranquility of rural New South Wales, Brigid weaves her grandmother's tales into a small but beautiful epic of romance and tragedy, of laughter and the cold reality of loss. It's Nell's tales, tall and true, that spur Brigid to write her own, too. Ultimately it's a story of finding your feet in a new land - be that a new country or a new emotional space - and the wonderful trove of narrative we carry with us wherever we might go.
In many ways Brigid and Nell are Kim and her grandmother, Lillian Kelly, and many snippets of story in this work belong especially to them. It is primarily a work of fiction, but while the Kennedys and the O'Halligans in Wild Chicory are not the Kellys and O'Reillys of Kim's own family history, they have sprung direct from her heart and show listeners just how it is she came to be a writer of stories herself.

a short and sweet little horror story
I am always impressed by the amount of short stories that are being turned into audiobooks. I know the creation process is not very cheap and I now that, even though it is a hugely growing market, many people do not want to spent money on and audiobook that is so short. So my hat is off to Jason Davis for making a handful of short original horror stories available for my listening pleasure.
The summary does a pretty good job summarizing but I will give it shot too. Randell and over the road truck driver was needing to poop very badly. So when he saw the sign for the rest area coming up he didn't hesitate in stopping for drop his load. Once in the stall he found that his insides were ready to evacuate much faster than here first thought. While sitting there is started to read the writing on the wall. He noticed that somebody had scribed a list of names under a heading "Has dies here". Then he saw that the last name on the list was dated with today's date. While thinking about how he would, if he had to, kill somebody he starts to get a eerie feeling. Somebody was watching him. That is as far as I am going to go because I probably already gave up too much.
As far as the performance by Dustin Davis, I wonder if there is a relation to the author. It wasn't the worst nor the best, defiantly still worth the listen. This was mostly due to the recording quality. There was just something off about it. While he has a handful of titles under his belt. His pacing was also just a bit too fast, the story could have benefited form a slower speed. I strongly believe that with an equipment upgrade he will find audiobook narrating quite successful.
This was a short and sweet little horror story that was well written, but just too short. It gave me chills and has an ending that I was not expecting. Go check out work by Jason Davis, he just might scare the pants off of you.

    Publisher's Summary:
Jocelyn McLaren, a former defense contractor, is now a new mother to twins! As she struggles to maintain what she imagines to be a normal family during the economic turmoil of the US housing collapse, she becomes involved in a political campaign and encounters troubling remnants of her life working for the military-industrial complex. These interactions haunt her, as well as the father of her children, and are ultimately interlinked with the most nefarious psychopaths on the planet. Divided into three books, Security Through Absurdity is the story of corporate shenanigans, an uneasy home life, and a quixotic presidential campaign. These situations propel Jocelyn through a believably bizarre journey and into dangerous psychological territory. In a matrix of life-threatening situations, she is forced to question the very fabric of her Gen-X American upbringing. Bubbles Will Pop is the second book in Jocelyn's journey.

    The plot thickens
On page one, it's clear that "Bubbles Will Pop," the second volume in the "Security through Absurdity" series, will be quite different than "Little Yellow Stickies," the book that preceded it. Where LYS relied on the perspective of a sole protagonist, Jocelyn McLaren, in New England, BWP starts off with Ethan Lowe, Jocelyn's boyfriend, in Switzerland. Here we are introduced to a villain of the expensive suit and fine manners variety who, it is immediately clear, is blackmailing Ethan. Ethan worked for the same defense corporation as Jocelyn, but apparently his job duties were in the area of "black ops," of which Jocelyn is unaware. Ethan's slow motion mental crack-up is one thread in BWP; Jocelyn's new-found political interests are another. She becomes involved with a presidential campaign, for a candidate named, "Ray Pierce," which is clearly a fictionalized Ron Paul. Meanwhile, one of Jocelyn's ex-coworkers is discovering dirty secrets perpetrated by their former employer that lead to a web of apparent plots. On top of all that, a professional assassin has Jocelyn in her sights while Jocelyn is just trying to be a good mom and be involved with her democracy. Just as Jocelyn seems on the verge of putting some of the pieces of the puzzle together, the book ends with a cliffhanger. Have the third book in the Series, "The Big Show," at the ready!
Bubbles Will Pop is a most entertaining read, I ...
Bubbles Will Pop is a most entertaining read, I can't help but feel that this "fiction' story is really a "protect the innocent" documentary of the authors real life dramas, of which there are many. I actually think that the 'candidate' Ray Pierce, could actually be Congressman Dr. Ron Paul.
The lead character,Jocelyn's insertion into the political arena brings back fond memories of my own personal experiences as a grassroots political activist. Hats off and eagerly awaiting Book 3.
Suspense, recent American history, excitement, and funny moments too. This book has it ALL!
I read this book in four nights. I really enjoyed it. A lot of the characters from the first book are in the second, along with, of course, our main character Jocelyn.

    Publisher's Summary:
London's luxurious Hotel du Barry has been left unscathed by WWI, and the party has just begun: tainted love, murderous desires and gin - it's The Grand Budapest Hotel with a dash of Gatsby.
When a laughing baby is found amongst the Hotel du Barry's billowing sheets, tucked up in an expensive pair of ladies' bloomers and neatly pegged to the laundry line, the hotel staff resolve to keep the child. The hotel's owner, Daniel du Barry, still mourning the loss of his lover in an automobile accident, adopts the little girl, names her after his favourite champagne and seeks consolation in fatherhood. Cat du Barry grows up beloved by both hotel staff and guests, equally at home in the ninth floor premium suite as she is in the labyrinth below stairs.
Years later, when Daniel du Barry dies in sinister circumstances, Cat determines to solve the mystery with the assistance of her extended hotel family. From hotel detective to roguish Irish gigolo, from compassionate housekeeper to foxy chambermaid, all will play their wicked parts in this novel that will charm, amuse and delight.
    Members Reviews:
A marvellous romp with dark tones - magical.
Urged by a dear friend to read Lesley Truffleâs Hotel Du Barry, she began telling me a little about the book in order to persuade me. She had me sold when she described the opening scene (this isnât a spoiler, either, because itâs part of the blurb) where a baby is found hanging on the clothesline of a chic hotel in London during the 1930s. Whatâs not to love about such a gloriously unusual beginning?
Just who the chortling babyâs mother might be is uncertain - never mind her father. Enchanted by the splendid little girl, the hotel staff determine to keep her. When the owner of the place, Daniel Du Barry, who is grieving the loss of his lover, discovers the child, he too falls under her spell.
Naming her Cat, after his favourite bottle of champagne, Daniel is captivated. Unfortunately his new wife, Eddie, sister of his lover is not, but sheâs forced to tolerate this child everyone else adores - the clever little girl with violet eyes and the propensity to fall asleep at the most inopportune moments â or is it only in Eddieâs presence? Over the years, Cat grows into a charming and talented young woman, as comfortable with the luxury of the penthouse as she is with the maids and various staff below stairs. Raised on a diet of classic and modern art, music, great (and sometimes inappropriate for her age) literature, as well as gossip, the sexual high-jinks, drug-taking and alcoholism of her step-mother and dirty habits of too many hotel guests, Cat isnât at all damaged by what she bears witness to - she has her insatiable curiosity piqued again and again and her zest for life and people grows.
When, however, tragedy strikes her rather charmed existence, Cat decides to get to the bottom of not only the mystery surrounding the death of loved ones, but to also find her mother.

Intelligently written but needs some focus and literary content
Intelligently written but needs some focus and literary content. It reads like a "told by" autobiography which it is, but it needs more literary content. She's smart but needs some coaching from writers / editors.
honest exploration of our hopes and fears about love, intimacy
This story is about SO MUCH MORE than what its simple title implies! I read the preview and had to buy the book. I had to read this in one sitting! This passionate tale of self-discovery and human foibles NEEDS to be read at one sitting. Its plain language and honest imagery make this hard to put down. In spite of its necessary and occasional hardness, yet there is a profound kindness and gentleness inherent to the sadness and continual struggle as the characters seek to make their livings and to find peace, intimacy, and love.
Touching our hearts, minds, and spirits with her honest portrayal of how many people struggle with relationships, M2 has given us a glimpse into some of the torment and urgency that fuel the choices that many of us make throughout our lives, even leading some to question the things we allow that drive us to our choices. While some readers may spurn this narrative for its occasionally graphic images, I found its honest exploration of our hopes and fears to really be about love, intimacy, and whether we decide to put faith into action. I felt as if the author knew the characters personally and was telling this directly to me. I found this story highly reminiscent of and resonant with my love of the movie Dr. Zhivago, in which I fretted, impassioned, with him, about the struggles and the lengths to which he went to try to love two women, besides his own agonizing fight for survival. In Love For Rent, as in Dr. Zhivago, I have seen many of my own victories and shortcomings in life. In the end, it is not the wine or passion that can claim victory in our lives, but our honesty with ourselves, that leads us to the age old answer that we are responsible for our decisions and how we respond to the things with which we are faced in life. I salute the author on this tale well told.
    A dancer's dance
This novel, at least after reading the initial chapters, reveals the dance many of us do. No, not dancing naked or meeting a married professor but rather the dance between reality and fantasy or the line that gets drawn taught held by our culture, our dreams and the reality that is life!
M2, keeps the reader wondering, is this her story or her dream......then again, the energy and steam that was shared and felt by me initiated deep breaths followed by bated ones......followed by desire for more.
Living a fantasy, dreaming a reality with life's bruises is the essence of good writing!
The intial chapters pulled me in with her open arms holding me captive for what opens next to me!
    Witty and Erotic intrigue.
The Author puts you right in the life of Molly. You feel all her emotions.
