Title: The Life and Death of Sophie Stark
    Author: Anna North
    Narrator: Amanda Dolan, Roger Wayne
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 7 hrs and 59 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 11-26-15
    Publisher: Orion Publishing Group
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 2 votes
    Genres: Fiction, Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
Who is the real Sophie Stark?
The Life and Death of Sophie Stark is the story of an enigmatic film director, told by the six people who loved her most.
Brilliant, infuriating, all-seeing and unknowable, Sophie Stark makes films said to be more like life than life itself. But her genius comes at a terrible cost: to her husband, to the brother she left behind, and to an actress who knows too much.
With shades of We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves, A Visit from the Goon Squad and Where'd You Go, Bernadette, it combines a uniquely appealing sensibility with a compulsively alluring plot.
Read by Amanda Dolan and Roger Wayne.

Fascinating characters but where are they going?
A set of interesting characters whose lives are intertwined. I still dont know what the author wanted to achieve from this book although, if it is to paint a series of beleaguered people at pivotal moments of their lives, the author has succeeded. Entertaining but im not sure it will resonate with me long after the final page.
    Wow, what a character
The life and death of Sophie is captured through the tales of those around her and they reveal a gutsy young film maker who is as intriguing as she is quirky.
This is a very human tale and the character of Sophie is so 3 dimensional you feel you've actually met in real life. To say she is complicated is to simplify a personality full of contradictions and foibles.
This is a compelling listen. It is a trip inside the head of a creative yet equally tormented mind from the outside in. It is not always comfortable in Sophie's head with the insecurities and bold, brash ambition but the plot feels genuine. It stays with you long after the narrator stops.
    Good book ,disappointed narration
Good story ,which I/we ( partner listening car journey) very confused about who was talking .
Think reading book would have been preferable ,so could see each chapter ,different character,
Narrators in this audio book not good enough at separating characters ,Amanda Dolan just slightly better than Roger Wayne ,....we struggled to know which character talking & had to keep rewinding , to understand which character talking now .
So ..conclusion = might listen to another Anna North book ,but probably not listen to Amanda Dolan or Roger Wayne ( if more than one character ) again.
    An unusual story
The story of Sophie is told by people close to her in her life and ,ultimately ,her death. We don't actually hear Sophie in the first person. She is deep and direct , but misunderstood by even her brother. People just don't 'get her'. I felt frustrated at times by people close to Sophie for not getting her.
    Sophie expresses emotion through film.
At times I found a little difficulty initially in following some of the characters. This was soon resolved though.
I enjoyed Sophie's story, especially that it engaged an emotional connection with Sophie.

    Language: English
    Release date: 11-24-15

    Publisher's Summary:
From the pen of best-selling Western writer Cliff Roberts
Slate is a one-man judge and jury, and if you're wanted...you're dead!
Railroaded to prison for killing a man who had just killed his wife and child, Sheriff Connor Slate is remanded to prison for life. The man he killed was the territory's second most powerful man's son. After five years of hell, Slate is partially pardoned by the new governor and the new chief justice of the territory's court system. They understand that the jury and the sentence was rigged against Slate five years ago and are out to set it straight, but only if he'll help them hunt down the wanted men in the territory before the vote on statehood in five years takes place. They are so concerned with the lawlessness of the territory, they have given Connor Slate near immunity and nearly unlimited power to hunt down and kill those who are wanted or should be wanted, provided he can make a reasonable argument that the person he kills was an outlaw or a criminal.
    Members Reviews:
    Well thought out extremely entertaining...
Conner Slate has just been released from prison. He has been granted a pardon by Chief Justice Josiah Willingworth & sworn in as a special agent of the court. Seems the Territorial Governor demands the backlog of wanted men be eliminated in preparation for statehood. Slate is not required to bring them in alive...just make them dead...use his own judgment. If you are wanted by the law, or you should have been wanted then your justice is to be delivered in cold lead by Conner Slate. There isn't a better man for the job but Slate might just have more than he can handle in Billings Brook.
Thomas Holden & Gregory Ballard have the town in a stranglehold. They are on opposite sides but together they are demanding the business owners & towns people pay for protection & the right to operate their stores & shops. They don't pay, they have no customers & both Holden & Ballard have men who make sure the privilege of drawing their next breath is paid for no matter what.
How can you pack this much action & excitement into 106 pages...it's a mystery. This is a very well thought out story that acts as a bonding agent between the reader & the main character. The only fault I found was there were some words & phrases that I would associate more with today than the 1800's. Other than that it was what I considered a perfect example of an excellent western that will go into my "keeper" file. It's cleanly written & I would highly recommend to any western reader.
Anyone know where book #2 for this series is? I can find #3 but not the second one.
    Critique
He used quite a few modern applications in his narration. We know that people didn't speak that way back then.
    Excellent read
This book had it all, solid unfolding plot with unexpected twist and turns, lots of action. Hero was a believable character and little things like the towns poor water quality. Just couldn't put it down.
    Good read.
    The book was well written.
I have enjoyed the book. The author have technically taken care of the book and the plot was well planned and played out.
    Book one
Well written with just enough mystery to make it very interesting I hope to see more books like this. In the future

    It could happen...
    4.5 stars
The motto, "history repeats itself" is absolutely true. My great grandma along with 16 relatives packed up and left Belgium overnight to avoid the Kaizer's army. We all know about WW II as well, we are delusional to think it wouldn't, or couldn't happen here. At the rate this country is going, and this generation of entitlement, we're headed for a breaking point. Also, there is no way this world is going to be sustainable in the future when it comes to food and population growth. This book is extremely eye opening and scary. We all pray this couldn't happen, but when we give up our freedoms, whether willingly or unknowingly, we become closer to a Socialist country. The key to not allowing this is to have a voice, elect Americans who have the Constitution as their focus, and to be aware of what's already been done so we can undo it if need be. We need to always stand united as a country, remain small in government, and work for what we have, buy local (American). The list can go on forever, but most importantly is to never give up our ways of defending ourselves. Once that is gone, anyone can move in and take over, ANYONE.... We also need to keep an eye on our school system and kids, much propaganda has been spread throughout history by teaching it to the children, and then having them bring it home.
I would give this book five stars, but the writing is a little he said, she said... The messages are what gives this book the higher rating. I would love to have this required reading for high schoolers, but I am not disillusioned enough to think that would ever happen. Overall, I have and would recommend others read this book.
    Really Thought Provoking
This was a very interesting read. The writer did a really did a good job depicting what it would be like if our economy had triple digit inflation and how, our government socialized all commerce and farming.

    Title: The Sword of Peter
Subtitle: A Biblical Adventure, Book 2

    Narrator: Mike Romano
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 2 hrs and 40 mins
    Language: English

    Publisher's Summary:
The search for the legendary Sword of Peter...
Two thousand years ago, when the Romans came to arrest Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, the disciple Peter cut off the ear of an innocent man. Jesus rebuked Peter and quickly healed the servant's ear - and the Sword of Peter took on supernatural powers.
Fast forward to modern day where a Biblical archaeology quest for the Sword of Peter is imperative to both Israel and to the Christian world. It's also a race against others who would possess and use the Sword of Peter for their own purposes, if they find it first.
When Peter cut off a soldier's ear with the sword, he was probably trying to cut off his head. A poor aim.
Martial arts expert Dr. Sam Godfrey is the youngest professor retired from the Zion School for Biblical Studies. Achava previously left the Staff of Moses with him for safekeeping, and on that adventure, he fell in love with her. That path toward a romance seems forbidden because of her spiritual duties and divine destiny.
A clan called the Sentinels believes that Sam has the sword. When they attack him in his home, he fights them. Using supernatural means, Achava shows up and helps him to defeat the intruders who have almost debilitated him with a mysterious powder.
Achava needs to take Sam to Israel to save him. They meet up with Saeem, Achava's longtime Arab friend who is dedicated to helping her locate and protect.
    Members Reviews:
Summer Lee continues to bring us adventures.
This is the second in the series and it excellent, love the characters. Achava is the guardian, Achsah lived during Joshua's time in the Bible and Sam Godfrey has become a martial arts expert (after the first book). It has a bit of everything, action, travel, romance, and the spiritual quest. You will be glad you read it.
Good but not great. 4 stars
Good story. Needs more development of storyline, characters ...... I have read the first two in this series. If the third book doesn't reveal some progress in the author's writing skills, I will not continue with this author. There are far too many great authors to waste time and money on mediocre.
    The Sword of Peter
i enjoyed the story but i thought Samuel continued as a professor as noted in The Staff of Moses until his 70's yet here he retired at 33. Is this the same character and why the age conflict?
    sword of Peter
The Sword of Peter is a great book. Who hasn't wondered what has become of some of the artifacts in Biblical history? I like how the book weaves it's tale thru the book and prepares you for another coming up. I'm going to love reading this to a blind friend who is into Si-fi books. This series will hold her interest AND has great Biblical references in it. Thanks Summer Lee.
    look foreward too future works
    a good read
