What simple piece of advice would actually help someone improve their life?
My advice is to get a new perspective on self-improvement. Consuming mainstream self-help media we have created an ideal self that says “When I am meditating every day, sleeping right, eating right…only then I am improving”
You believe without having certain habits and hitting certain targets you can’t improve. It’s a linear way of looking at self-growth which is making you miss out on real growth. Improving yourself doesn’t mean trying harder.
You can be better by working less while improving quality, being a bit kinder to yourself, being a bit more okay with where you are. You can read this answer better not by trying to take notes but by reading it with an open mind, ruminating over this, reading it to only expand your mind. There are so many dimensions when it comes to improving yourself. Improvement doesn’t have to full of effort, competitive, statistical or target-oriented. More Effort isn’t always the answer. Maybe the only way to go further is to take a step back. I want you to think of ways to improve yourself without the precondition of effort.
