Dear Steve and Shirley, I need some advice on a different kind of double standard with men and women. My ex-boyfriend has a lot of flaws and I overlooked them in the beginning because I was really in to him and wanted things to work out. For example, when we met, he told me he lived downtown in a brownstone. So a few weeks later, I went over to his place. I pulled up and he escorted me in through the basement door and told me he hangs out down there most of the time.
