Navigating the sales conversation!
First of all, be yourself, and ask a lot of questions. You may not to know what to say but it's really a lot easier than you think. Most people just want to talk about themselves. So ask more questions.
Don't take anything into a conversation - no business cards, no brochures, no bagels, etc... It will become a defense mechanism. If the gatekeeper asks for info - and tries to shoo you away, let them know you don't have anything. But ask for something to write on. Don't play that game. Leave your name and number. Just ask "what would be a better time to swing through?" Be authentic.
Remember you can call and ask for the person by their first name. Stay real, stay you and treat the person like they are the CEO of the company.
Know who you're looking for before you go in. Do your research.
This will make you stand out from the rest. Find info you can use to talk to them about.
This is about making your prospects look good. When you know your stuff before you start a conversation, you'll understand how to help the person build their business. Where can you fill in the gaps for someone?
Don't forget to just have a real conversation and enjoy getting to know people to the point you know exactly who to refer to them!
