There's an energy to what you charge and it is important to understand it. When your worth is tied up in your fee, there's usually a problem.
People have so many money blocks and issues. This gets in the way for many people. The awareness will help you evolve with what you're charging and with growing your business.
We grew up thinking it was bad to talk about money. We have to realize that having more conversations about this is what helps it shift. Where are your money beliefs coming from?
Do you value your own services? Do you realize that if you don't charge what you're worth, you're disempowering people. If people invest in themselves they are motivated to take action. If they don't have skin in the game, they won't.
How do you come up with what you charge for your services? What's your hour worth? Compare to others and start somewhere? Then beyond that hour, what is the amount of energy, resources and other things you're putting into the service? What would that be worth. That has to be added.
A monthly retainer is a great idea to make sure you have regular cash flow.
If your self-worth is tied to your fee, there's work you need to do first. Money has no value except the value we put on it. How much is your donkey worth?
Getting what you're worth is about selling to the right people. If excuses come up, you're probably not selling to the right people. Think about the one-call close.

Speaking is a powerful way to build your business. This is about the know, like and trust thing. When you're on stage you're in a position of influence and power.
Here are some tips for being a great speaker:
Be you. Laugh at yourself. Let yourself be imperfect.
Remember that you're there to entertain. It's about them, not you.
Once you speak you will want to do more of it. There's an energy to speaking that will sustain you.
How do you get started speaking? Start small and local. Teach a lot of workshops. Do what feels easy to you. Talk about things you're knowledgeable about - that you could talk all day about.
Speaking is about storytelling. Don't be a robot. Learning to tell your story will also help your sales game. Your unique, authentic way will be what connects with people, even in what you are calling "failure."

You can use social media to help you spread your blog messages. Pinterest is a great place to share those!
You need to be guest blogging AND blogging on your own sites. Consistency is more important than frequency.

People are craving content right now. Your words need to be out there.

Using speaking as a powerful tool to build your business is a little bit of a healing process. It's easier for some than others. If we can do it, you can do it.
Speaking is a publicity and exposure move for your business.
You can start small with your local networking group. And remember this is about telling your story. Don't try to do anything else but tell your awesome, authentic story.
If speaking triggers your perfectionism issue, don't let that happen. You have to take the action to move through the fear.
You might work with a speaking coach to hone in your skills. But you also might be a natural at it!
How do you get gigs?
There are two kinds of ways to get speaking gigs; get on others' stages or create your own.
Look into your Rotary Club for opportunities.
And...where do your ideal clients hang out? How can you get in front of them. What are the pros and cons of speaking for free?
To be a great speaker, make sure you're making your audience feel something. Find the spots where people are leaning in, laughing, clapping, etc...
Give them an experience. Don't just talk at them. Engage.
You can build a speech from every single one of your failures and create a teaching moment from them.
Make sure you're networking at the events you want to speak at- it's one of the best ways to get a gig.

There are 700,000 out there to be on. And last year Google made podcasts searchable. So you can type in any subject with the word "podcast" behind it and instantly find the ones you want to be on.
Why should you guest on podcasts: It's easy. It's the best place to practice sharing your message. It will prep you for speaking.
What makes a great interviewer? They can carry the conversation, they can keep it going and they make the guest look and sound great.
You can attract clients by sharing your message on podcasts. But do your research first. Listen to an episode. Use that info when you apply, so they know how your message will help enhance theirs.
Be a great guest - it's your job to promote the host and the show, and make them look great. Be a great storyteller and not a sales person.
Small podcasts are GREAT places to share your message, even more than the big ones sometimes.
Remember, we are teaching and entertaining on a podcast. You can help create an awesome show, and develop a great reputation as a guest, a guest other podcasters will want on their show!

Podcast guesting is a huge opportunity for getting more publicity.
Last year Google made podcasts searchable. You can type in whatever topic you want with the word podcast after it and you'll have a huge list.
Podcast guesting is easy and a great place to practice telling your story.
Podcasts are usually recorded, so they're a great place to practice without worrying about mistakes.
The Brave Healing Podcast is Laura's podcast where first time guests can relax and tell their story. And the Success Champions podcast is Donnie's, where badasses can come to tell their story of overcoming severe odds to reach success.
There's no such thing as a bad guest. Only a bad host.
It's way better to be in an authentic conversation. Make sure to listen to an episode or two so you know what you're getting into.
Make sure you look at the smaller podcasts to be on. They are great opportunities to get more exposure.
Listen to an episode of a show you'd like to be on and let them know how you can contribute to a great show.
Do the research to know the show. Listen to an episode and leave a review. Understand what the host's mission is. Be a great guest.
Be a great storyteller.
Your job as a guest is to make the host look like a badass. It's not to sell your shit. It's to tell a great story, entertain or educate the listeners, etc...
Don't be someone you're not. Be authentic.
And be a great publicity machine for your host. Share the episode. Send it to your email list. Show them you appreciate them by sharing the episode.

You need more publicity. It will change your business game.
It's time to share your message in a bigger way. The exposure will open more people up to your brand and message. And they will get to know, like and trust you up close and personal.
Getting in front of people could mean a lot of things.
Think about the people whose stories you've heard. The feeling you got when you were so inspired. This is what we're talking about. You can learn how to do this.
You need to become the face of your company. And you need to get out there. Ask yourself, who are you being today?
Be the same everywhere you go. Don't put on the mask.
If you're worried about exposure in terms of critics, you have to step outside of your comfort zone and realize this is a warrior's path.
You're not going to feel the confidence and motivation first. You're going to feel that AS you take the action.
It's okay if you mess up. Go do the thing. Get practice by taking action. Let that be your practice.
Podcasting can be a great way to practice your speaking game.
The greatest speakers go with the flow. And they love questions.
You'll need to start reaching out for opportunities. And...you can also hire people to help you do that.
Start Googling for local opportunities, both speaking and podcast guesting.
Please don't submit non-professional headshots to these places! And include a professionally written bio as well!
Get used to rejection and keep applying, submitting and connecting.
Go to Google and type in the words "Write for me _____" and include the topic you write about. You'll find many opportunities for guest blogging.
Go out there and show up. Get out there and get more exposure! Let people meet you!

Our favorite subject!!
Let's take the right actions. Aligned action. It's not just about any action.
Do what you already know you need to do to build your business. And it's business development. It's networking. It's connecting with people.
You must take action WITH the feeling of fear. You have to stop making the thoughts mean something else.
When people get stuck in comparison mindset they get paralyzed. It's only a matter of action. The people who take more action are more successful.
Do you have integrity in your business?
Are you taking action and carving out a path for others to follow?
It's okay to make mistakes and have failures. They are all stepping stones.
Aligned action is cool but if you're confused about that, don't let it stop you from taking any kind of action.
Turn the fear into a higher vibe energy. Let it tell you you're on the right track. Use it as a compass. The universe is getting you excited about that next move.
You have to figure out how to move your ass with the feelings and take action anyway.
The action taking can be a practice that gets better and easier as you go.
Action will give you the confidence, motivation and courage. So don't wait to feel those things before you take actions.
It's never about overcoming fear. It's about who you become as you move through it and evolve to the next level version of yourself.

Want the tactical strategy behind networking?
Ever heard of people calling themselves a "networker?"
The strategy behind networking that's worked for us has been looking at this as developing relationships, not selling.
It's about asking a lot of questions and getting to know the other person.
The goal you can go into a networking event with is "Just get two good connections." This takes a lot of stress off of networking.
Networking is a key business development tool. But you have to look at it differently. It's not about building your business. It's about building other people's businesses.
Analyze the networking event; is it generating revenue for you? Put a timeframe on that particular event and how long you'll attend before a particular event and the connections you make from it begin to generate revenue.
Get to know people so well you can sell THEM.
