I thought this was enough for quality time: you’re here; I’m here. We’re spending time so it has to be quality. Then I met Brandon.

He checked all the boxes of the non-negotiables that Lamont talked about on his appearance on Dear Black Gay Men Podcast. But every time we spent time together, I felt more alone with Brandon than I did without him.

Quality is relative

Our love languages are not one-size fits all. Each of us has a reason why that particular love language resonates with us. I talk about my quality time qualifications in this episode of the podcast, but we all have to discover why we like what we like.

What makes time quality?

Why does physical touch light you up?

What kinds of words are affirmative for you?

We each have to dive a little deeper into what we like to find why we like it (1) so we can better assess who speaks our love language fluently, and (2) to teach a good man how to better connect with us when we find him.
