Living in Silicon Valley is a humbling experience for anyone who lives there.  Both Hiten and Steli have learned a lot by living in the valley about the power of taking small steps along the way to building a big business.  Creating momentum is a powerful force that is often times overrated.

But, there’s a difference between doing something small and doing things that are meaningless.  It’s important to keep your “baby steps” in line with the overall goal for your project.

Today’s Tip

Steli:  From the founders of Heroku - If a project is too hard, stop immediately.  It may not be the right time, you may add people to your team, and a similar (but simpler) solution may present itself in the future.

Hiten:  If you’re just starting out, figure out if anyone cares about the problem you’re trying to solve, and if you can get people to care over time, and think about how to get your product in front of people to start with.
