I don't know that there's a subject I'm more passionate about than this. Reading has changed my life. I don't say that lightly, I'm not trying to be dramatic, but I truly have seen more positive results in my life as a result of reading than just about anything I've ever done.
When I was thinking about this podcast, Work and Play With Nancy Ray, I was thinking about what category this falls into: Is this work or is this play? The beautiful thing about reading is it's really both. I know so many people who love to read for leisure. I mean, I can just binge read some books and it's so fun because you can really be transported to another place, another story, other time in history. But also in work, I think most of my success that I've had in business as a wedding photographer building my team has come from reading, which is crazy.
If you have been following me for a hot second, you know that I love to read. I really value it. But here's what you might not know—I have not loved to read my whole entire life. I was not a big reader as a kid. Actually, I only read what I absolutely had to as a kid. It wasn't really until the end of college, maybe even after I graduated, that I started reading on a regular basis. Do I read as much as I'd like to even now? Not even close. I have three small kids who demand a lot of me and it's hard to fit in all the reading I want to do. But do I still make it a priority? Absolutely.
Today is all about how I became a reader and how you can, too.
