It’s time for us to get really clear about what the Ego is.
The ego definition that we usually encounter, particularly when we talk about someone having a ‘big ego’ is that they think they are better than other people.
But actually - they might in many respects be better at doing certain things. Recognising talent, ability and strengths of a body mind has nothing to do with ego.
Ego is simply the obsessive attempt to secure the self-identity. And all of those attempts fail, because it’s literally impossible to secure the idea of self that doesn’t even exist.
So in this episode, we’re going to take a different approach and instead of measuring the feeling of self-esteem or self-enhancement, we’re going to use three much more powerful measures of ego.
What is Covered:
-Can our ego get bigger after practicing meditation and yoga?
-Fight or flight - the intensity of reactions to a perceived threat to our self-identity
-How the unachievable wants of our ego can drive us to constant disappointment in life
-Why the most powerful and creative minds tend to get stuck in a loop of self-belief
-How we can begin liberating our mind
